Just had this built
6ft x 2ft my golden child is just under 4 feet so now I've got two of them that are ready to go in cages I'm thinking The Golden Child in the red cage would look badasshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ecf6746f4.jpg

Nice looking cages but i would have gone 3 feet deep especially for a mainland. Caesar who is a SD hybrid still uses about half the depth of the cage when curled up.

Space available makes it hard to go that wide....
I plan get one more made at 6x2 I'll have three for three female's...
Looking to buy a house end of next summer so I'll have 8x3 made they'll have their own room an plenty of space for cages..
My golden child has doubled in weight in two weeks an gain almost half foot in a month and that's not power feeding her either.. so I wanted to have cages made now before they outgrow the tubs completely so I'll have two of them going into cages

Lol yup, retics grow fast and you got mainlands....way too big for me to handle alone. I personally dont want anything over 10 feet or so. I've already experienced what a 7-8 foot retic can do when you do stuff it isnt having fun with. With the whole tooth through the lip fiasco with Caesar, he wrapped completely around my waist and twice around my right leg as i was holding his neck and pulling his upper lip down and unhooking it from a tooth lol.

To put it mildly. Caesar was less than happy and I'm surprised i didnt get bit when i put him back lol. Instead he laid there and sulked for about 10 mins and when i tried to console him, he shoved my hand away and kept doing it for about 3 days lol. He wanted nothing to do with me and would avoid me if he saw me and go in his hide or the other direction. After about 3 days, he was ok and came back to see me and sit on my arm and enjoy the petting again. It's funny how he acted like an angered child.

If it's me, I buy some epoxy resin (usually available from like a Lowes or Home Depot nowdays) and coat the bottom and a few inches up the sides. Super easy. Mix equal parts and pour it in, spread it around, and you have 100% waterproof cage bottom that can't be destroyed. It's clear so it would show your new paint too.
Just my $0.02 and typical nitpicking

That's an understatement. I am always picking up little dollops of white piss around Caesar's cage. He never drops huge ones like the boas, instead he just dabs a little all over haha. His poops though, those are like the size of a small child. Luckily those only come about once a week. But yeah, if you dont mind literally having to spot clean once a day, you will like a retic.
-
I second the good choice with glass. I had Rosey strike an acrylic door on her old Constrictors NW cage and it left a scratch on it. Had Caesar strike his glass doors a few times and it leaves a mouth mark which is easy to wipe off with some F10.

Same here for my large Coastal Carpets. It’s like as soon as they hit the 7 foot length, no more big piles of urates. A bunch a small ones all over, everyday, for 6-9 days nonstop, with a little paintbrushing in between- and I mean smeared all over the shelves. It’s like some kid comes in and squeezes out Elmer’s glue all over. Not so, with my 6 + foot Jungle Carpets.
My Boas are like yours too, just one or two big globs or stools, even my big boy.
That’s why I will never go all out on decorations and landscaping like Gio and others.

Haha yup. Luckily Caesar hasnt dragged it onto his shelf yet.
And yeah, Rosey dropped a huge urate this morning in the corner. It was the size of a large strawberry. I found it quick enough, it didnt have time to set into concrete yet lol.
While i love the natural setups like Gio's, i too couldnt do it for Caesar. The boas could and obviously the GTP as Pat is weird i guess and actually comes down to the floor to drop a deuce or piss. He never just drops them off his perch.

Yep! This is why I don't do fun enclosures for the bigger snakes https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...236712a6a8.jpg
And of course this was within moments of putting her back in her freshly cleaned and disinfected cage. Half pint of piss waterfall off the shelf...

/points and laughs. Caesar does lots of stupid stuff and pisses me off but at least he doesnt piss on his shelf......he has dragged poop up on it though :(

They (retics) are all different which is obvious. I have little to no issues with urates or other waste, it is fairly regular here. I feed, he cleans out and I feed again.
True, the waste is more frequent than what some species excrete, but certainly nothing unmanageable or difficult to deal with.
"Fun enclosures" are really not a lot of work or as much as people think they are. Substrate in a natural form VS paper is a scoop and re-apply VS a complete change out. I guess this depends on the definition of "fun". Lots of floor clutter with retics won't last long as they are busy and will knock things over.
Perches VS a shelf? There is less chance of waste on a perch than a shelf but both are easy to clean. This is only my experience, but the snakes here will hang their tails off a perch and deposit waste on the cage floor. That said, there are some unlucky mishaps where the water source ends up being the toilet.
By the way, I do like the shelving and would add it if I could combine the two, I'm just partial to perches.
The floor plan in my retic cage consists of 1 hide and 1 water source. Other than that it is very simple. Most cages here in my room are similar.
Climbing comes naturally to retics, even the larger ones if the area of confinement is set up appropriately.
The actual forum where these pictures (below) were posted doesn't show them off because PhotoBucket ruined a lot of old picture posts by deleting pictures.
This is a repost on another forum.

I just can't ignore these behaviors.
To me, this is one of the most enjoyable aspects of these animals. Others may not feel the same.
Everybody has methods that work for them. I enjoy the instincts more than just having/owning the animal, I like to see them perform as many behaviors as possible in the space I can provide for them. I prefer watching them over handling them in most cases.
That said, I recommend the largest space the animal will comfortably acclimate to, and the largest space you can reasonably provide.
That cage looks nice but with a mainland animal, it will not be long before you are looking for something larger.
Good luck and have fun!

The only fiberglass resin I'm familiar with is Bondo....the stuff you fix dents with on a car. I mean, if that's actually what is on the cage already you're going to have to make it work but I don't think it's a really healthy thing to have around animals overall....maybe it's another type of fiberglass resin though.
Two days is the number I'm getting from a few car guys for the smell to clear out.

Fibergalss Resin is just that, like cars parts ect... It isn't unhealthy after it dries. The FUMES now are bad just like Oil Base paint so dont use it until the smell is completely gone. Take the Glass Doors out and let it air.. Id use heat or a fan too.. When I do the Silicone i turn the RHP's up and Heat/dry the piss out of them for a couple days before I put snakes in.

Yeah just let it air good. When you apply wet or sand that stuff its dangerous, but not when its solid and dried. Once the Funes are gone your ok, just dont let the snakes i with the fumes or they wil be like the kids that That Tied Pods & Huff Paint.

Because it won't make it down stairs assembled... An their is no sense in buying a 6 ft cage when ultimately I'll need a 8ft..

Not bad really. I paid almost $1900 for my 3 T25 loaded with shelf, LEDs, locks, flexwatt and stand.
Keeping large constrictors is not cheap by any means. If you want a cheap pet, buy a couple anoles lol.

I hear you. You can just order them one at a time. My advice though is order 2 at a time as 2 seems to be the peak for shipping savings. At 3, i basically paid almost full price for the third one. Also, not sure if they still do but you used to be able to do X amount down and then just have the balance paid off before the 3 months when the cages were done.
But anyways, I am very pleased with AP cages and service. Top notch imo except their LEDs. They leave a lot to be desired as like i've mentioned, I've had all but 2 of them die or fade on me lol.

Dude!! What are you waiting for!!?? That snake would love the room i bet. Toss in some play toys for it like PVC tubes or corrugated rain drain pipes, some silk plants, a couple hides and add a perch or shelf and i bet that snake would be busy 24/7. Retics arent BPs, they arent really scared. Caesar is front and center when the door is slid open or anything goes on that shakes his cage. Even my little 20 inch GTP is brave and climbs over his plastic plant to come to the front of the cage when i am messing around. Heck even my BP comes out of her hide when i open a door. If i dont watch out, she slides down the cage stack and i catch her on the floor wandering around. My pythons are clearly more bold than the boas lol.

Yeah it's been a rough month for me got a lot of personal crap going on so I haven't actually got the panel installed or anything... Talking to my fiance about this morning I think with my income tax return I'm going to go ahead and buy two AP T25 I'm going to put my Golden Child in one of those and my Citron in the other and use this red cage for my male 50% super dwarf and then my other six foot cage use for my 75% dwarf female and I'm going to put my four foot cage into storage
