Too big for hides???
Hey guys/girls!!! I'm new to the forum nice to meet everyone, I'm not new to reptile keeping but I'm kinda in a pinch. I can't find a hide big enough for my adult 5'-5'1/2 foot dumerils boa. I don't know how to upload pictures but he's a 4'x2' AP cage soon to be a 5'-6'. cage.. any suggestions.

Did you try Amazon or eBay?

Re: Too big for hides???
Jumbo reptile basics hide might work? My 9' retic fits in one. Much slimmer than a dumerils thot

I have this for my BCI for when she is full grown.
It's supposed to be big enough, and looks like it will be, but she's not 7FT yet!
It has the measurements on the reptile basics site, so you can do some figuring.
Welcome to the forum and good luck!

I use restaurant bus tubs as hides for my adult boas (BI's and Dum's). You just need the tools to cut an access hole.

I use crates and it also acts as shelf which they love

I made this hide in the photo for my 21 months old BCI who is also 5 foot+ as your adult Dumeril,s boa. I just bought wood pieces and joined them together with nails and painted it. The hide size is 19 inches long, 21,5 inches wide, 16,5 high. I have choosen the size and type of the wood

Re: Too big for hides???
Thank you so much everyone I will check out all your recommendations!!! I looked on reptile basics but I honestly didn't know how it would fit since I can't see it in person lol.

Re: Too big for hides???
Go to Walmart, and get a litter box. Cut a door in it (carefully) with a scissors. They make all sorts of different sizes so you can find something that works. Ive done it numerous times before.
Make sure to cut off any sharp corners though.

My RTB that's a little over 6 feet fits nicely in the XL reptile basic hides, in the same size cage.

Re: Too big for hides???
My 7’ Morelia Bredli python fits in the RB large hides, she’s got roughly the same body proportions as my husband’s BCI.
If you can find some cardboard boxes about same dimensions as the RB hides it could help you get a feeling for size. Even a piece of paper for the footprint and a ruler for height. You can also do the cardboard box estimate for litter boxes, bus tubs, or storage bins.

My 7' girl fits in those easy, but I keep my boas trim. A girthier boa of similar size might not be able to fit, there isn't a lot of extra room for her. lmao I also wouldn't imagine a boa much longer than that fitting in one. My 6.5' male fits in a large (I believe) with enough room for another snake. haha
