Re: What's your fav kinda Gold?
My last name is rose so rose gold is my favorite but I love yellow too. It's so close that it'd require a photo finish. I have a jewelry addiction and most jewellers don't have a big selection of rose so I "settle" for yellow.
I have another chain and cross with a matching bracelet and another diamond ring in the pawnshop at the moment https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...034f71aa87.jpg

Re: What's your fav kinda Gold?
My celebratory gift to myself for getting off probation in November will be 6k worth of gold and diamonds in my mouth

I don't really wear jewelry, I actually prefer practical gifts (or snakes, lol)
BUT, if I had to choose, I would absolutely like a piece by "Le Vian". Preferably with chocolate diamonds :)
I only like pieces that are very much out of the ordinary. I do like rose gold, but only if its not to "in your face" and full of bling. It needs to be set off with dark stones. I don't like a lot of "bling" period. So either gold is fine, as long as its not in your face blingy, and it has to be very much "different" then the same old same old..
I would be thrilled to receive either of those rings :D

Just go and sneak a peak at the most treasured pieces she has, should give you a good idea of what she likes!!

Anything vintage and art deco inspired. I like white and rose.

Re: What's your fav kinda Gold?
I've been eyeballing a yellow gold bracelet at Kay's with white and chocolate diamonds in it but it's definitely to blingy for your taste. The rings you posted would make a great pinky ring, I'm gonna have to look into them
-
the downside to the rings I like...
The first one is around $7000 !!! :O
The others are a bit of a better price ;)
So yeah, I keep on dreaming LOL
But its not actually the price that attracts me to them, its the uniqueness and I love the chocolate Diamonds, SO SO much cooler then clear diamonds. Or any other color, really.
Le Vian makes a lot of different pieces, a lot of them with rose gold and chocolate diamonds, many at good prices, they are all stunning. I guess I like them because they are different and not gumball machine blingy ;)

I pawned my white gold class ring for a couple pitchers of Lite years ago. Ugggh, I think you made the more sound investment. :tears:

Re: What's your fav kinda Gold?
Ill go off on a different tangent here because I'm a coin guy sooooo.....
Gold Maples
Gold Krugerrands
and
(my personal favorite) pre-1933 US Gold coins .....$5 Gold Half Eagle Indian....oh yeah
http://i66.tinypic.com/23jg96e.jpg
A person can say....."I bought a $15,000 piece of jewelry, so when I sell it, it's going to be worth $15,000".....until you meet someone who understands gold purity and weight and they offer you $300 in scrap value because that's what you actually have in front of you. Jewelry carries ENORMOUS premiums (and low purity) over spot price, so for investment purposes.....just understand what you're actually buying.
Want to ask a question that will make a jeweler sweat? ....start looking at rings or necklaces, and then ask, "If I would sell this, what would you give me for it (scrap price)?.....see if they even answer the question.

Correct. Anyone that buys Gold at chain store prices will never get their money back. Stores (unless a fine Jewler) don't even list the weight of the gold. Most of the time you see .37 for the stone & don't realize its only 2-5 grams of 14kt and they are selling them for $3200. I buy all my Gold below Scrap prices so I'm guaranteed to break even even if the market crashes. I have a ad & listing for what I pay cash. I mostly get items handed down and people just want whatever they can get. My Rolex is worth around $9000 used and I paid $800 to a man that got it passed down to him.
I purchased a 5 ounce Mariner link chain in Dec for $1200. Even my Jewler offered me $3000 cash for it lol. I don't buy anything below 14kt. Last year I melted 3 ounces of scrap I had so my jewler could make a Chain for my daughters Sweet 16... He does molds and designs all the things I see that I like and then makes them. All the real weight I have I bought when gold was under $600 a ounce back before 2009.
