Anyone have pics of adult bananas?
    hello all,

I was originally turned off of bananas when I heard about the spotting, but have come around on that issue. After seeing one adult banana in a video on youtube, I'm thinking that I might actually be interested in the morph.

My question for you guys, is do you have any pictures of adults that you can share? I've seen scores of baby pics, but just can't tell how much patterning is visible on the adults. I've heard that their colors fade, leaving mostly yellow, but the one adult I saw (in that video) still had visible, but faded, pattern. I'd like to know if that was an exceptional specimen, or if this is common with bananas in general.

My thoughts are turned to possibly combing banana with hypo and seeing if that takes care of the spotting issue, but again, if they don't retain much / any patterning as adults, I'm thinking that they would keep even less with hypo involved.

Thanks for your time and help!

i don't have a single gene Banana or Coral Glow but i have 3 Banana combo's, all 1-2years old and 800-1000grams. i don't have pix of them on me but i can try to get pix if you're interested. they are:
    1. Banana Mojo - almost no freckling (as w/ other Banana BEL combo), nice light yellows on muted lavender
    2. Banana Cinny - high freckling, orange pattern turned peachy
    3. Banana Champ combo - a little freckling, colors remain mostly same - light yellows and lavender

anyway i don't think Hypo/Ghost would eliminate the freckles; it would just turn them a bluish-grey. BEL-genes or Albino would.

Keep in mind, the ones with freckling you'll pretty much always see the pattern for the simple fact that the speckles only appear in the darker part of the pattern. There are some combos out there that supposedly don't get freckles. With those I'd be worried about them looking like just a solid yellow snake as adults but I have not seen adults with no speckling so I'm not sure, they are beautiful as babies though.

Thank you for your input guys!

It seems that you have to either choose to have patterns that show, but have freckles, or have less visible patter and less freckling. It is still hard to tell what color range these guys have as adults, so I may just have to wait to see an adult at an expo and make a decision on how much I like them in person. I can live with the freckling (especially the animals with lighter freckling), but if the animal will be mostly yellow with little visible pattern, I'm not sure that would interest me as much.

I belive that Banana Pinstripes have very minimal speckling.

You might want to look into a banana enchi. While they do tend to have more yellow than a typical banana, they keep quite a keep of the pattern overall.

Regius_49 Thank you for that information... If I could find an animal like the one you pictured, I'd be happy...Still pretty visible pattern and fairly clean in terms of freckling. I'll just have to look around and see if I can find one that is het hypo or hypo to see if it would work with my plans.

Adult cg het pied, cg pied still has spots, and a particularly yellow Crystal as a different option if you like yellows without spots.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...67192a0a3e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6bcb9ab219.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...90ea2929ce.jpg

Thank you all for the pics!

cchardwick- I love how dark the patterning still is on your adult.

HannahLou- I really like the look of your adult crystal. I've never seen an adult of this morph before.

I bought my male coral glow het pied to try to make some coral glow pieds but decided to pair my pied females with my albino pied male this year instead. Right now I'm just pairing up this guy with a normal and a lemon blast. That should at least give me a few coral glow hatchlings to put on my tables at the shows. Next year I'll be going for the coral glow pied and will hold at least one of those back.

This is my banana enchi. A little bit more freckling on mine than a lot of enchi. It does show a lot more color than standard banana though as an adult.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bed34f57f2.jpg

Banana Enchi is a great combo, one of my favorites. I also like the Banana Spider combo.

I personally really like the freckling. Do babies who show less freckling develop more freckles as they mature OR are the freckles they are born with the only ones they will ever have? Most babies I've seen in person don't have too many freckles, so I'm wondering if more will come out after future sheds, as they grow.

To my knowledge no banana babies have spots. All of them develop them over time and most of mine have started after a few hundred grams.

They are generally born with no freckles at all and they appear with each shed. These arent great pictures but you can see how pre first shed these guys had zero spots and gradually got more.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...03f5933963.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...aa482e11cb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6e390bd139.jpg

I don't know if this is true or not but a few local breeders in my area claim that super bananas do not develop the speckles. I have my doubts but I have never seen an adult super banana so maybe they are correct. I was extremely lucky to hatch 1 female banana het pied from my Banana het pied x pied project so in the future I'll hopefully get the chance to see for myself. Does anyone here have a pic of an adult super banana?

Im not positive but this may be true. I was admiring a super that was already about 400g + and she had no spots. Can't think of any larger ones Ive seen in person. If someone likes yellows without spots I suggest Crystals. I have a couple and some are darker yellow than others.

I just got this banana male, hes about 1 1/2 years old . He has a lot of freckles, but his patterns are also very prevalent. I have an enchi, pastel, Mojave hep pied. we're going to try and breed next year. I'm hoping for a pretty sweet mix, with high Genes traits and high and low freckles.

    That's because it's more than just a Banana ;)

Either Cinnamon or Black Pastel Banana which explain pattern and heavy spotting.
