    Hi!
    Hello everyone!

I've been lurking here for probably six or seven months reading, learning, and in general just enjoying the forum. I finally bit the bullet and placed a hold on a young ball python last week, a male banana/coral glow emperor pin (whew! Try saying that fast five times...). This will be my first snake. It's still sinking in a bit, because up until a few months ago I never thought of owning one- I didn't dislike them, but the idea of owning reptiles has been kind of intimidating to me because they seemed so fragile compared to a cat or a dog. I'm still gathering a few of the smaller supplies, and so I probably will not actually meet him in person until the middle of next month, but I am very excited when not having fits of anxiety about it, haha. :rolleye2:

I'm loving the friendly, helpful vibe of this forum, and I can't wait to meet you all. :D Cheers!

Welcome! That's a great first snake, he has four genes in the mix - Banana / Lesser / Pastel / Pinstripe. He would make a great breeder if you ever went down that road. All four of those genes are a few of my favorite and would make some awesome combos. I was the same way with my first few snakes, I was so excited I could hardly sleep!

Hi and welcome to the forum. What sort of setup are you planning on going with - a rack or cage??

Thank you!!!! I'm sure I will have lots, especially after he comes home.

Thank you! I already have two tubs, my heat mat, my thermometer, and my t-stat, and I've already been playing with the empty tubs to see what the temperatures run at different times of day/what my humidity looks like so I can do any more pre-prep before the substrate and hides go in. Results have been both positive and entertaining.

Thank you! Apart from the fact that he is just about the most gorgeous snake I've ever seen, the number of genes he carries was also a deciding factor... Just in case. It can't hurt to be prepared, right? :P

Thank you! I'm already accepting that there's a good chance he will not be an only snake, and the fact that the apartment complex allows you as many small pets (snakes included) as my heart desires will not help with that. The lack of good quarantine areas might, however...

Haha, thank you! If anyone, feel sorry for my poor boyfriend, who only originally wanted one pet, and is now subjected to my burgeoning zoo.

Thank you! I actually have tubs at the moment- a 32 quart that was originally going to be his home, and a 6 quart that will likely be his baby box (I was originally planning on getting an older, bigger snake). I'd like to eventually go PVC display, but that's at least a summer goal. :P
