My new boa
My sister and her boyfriend are moving in together so I offered to take his 9 yr old, 9ft female BCI. My sister has cats and she is concerned. Anyway, she is gorgeous and supposedly sweet. Eating about 4-5 jumbos once per month according to him. Here she is:

Re: My new boa
Well, the new girl has arrived. I have a feeding question. I need to order food for her. He had been feeding her 4-5 large rats once per month. To me that is a huge toll on her digestive system all at once (and she is also quite girthy!). My thought is to switch her to one jumbo every 2 weeks. Any thoughts on this? She just crapped this morning and it was like a large horse had been in her cage.

One jumbo 2x a months sounds fine.
My boa leaves relatively dainty droppings. Her name is Diva though, after all.

Here are some pics of Tequila enjoying the outside today. She was a bit hissy and didn't really want to come out of the cage but once out she was cool. Aside from expelling air every few minutes when she was moving around. Not sure why but it didn't sound like a respiratory problem. Not a wheeze...Anyway, here she is in all her girthiness!

Re: My new boa
Oh she's gorgeous Jamie! I'd let Rauri, the male BCI at our house, see her but I'm worried he'd coil around the computer monitor in a sudden burst of red tailed boa love at first sight thing LOL.
Btw if you haven't dealt with this yet....trying to convince one of these bull strong snakes that "no they may NOT take that lovely wooden side table back to their enclosure with them!" is just a real load of fun LMAO. Thus far Rauri has claimed a side table and Mike's favorite beer drinkin, sports watchin man chair! Thank goodness he's a great natured snake and not inclined to argue the point when we have to take his "treasures" away from him LOL. On the upside he does enjoy hanging out on the love seat in the enclosed porch and watching the resident squirrel population in the nearby trees (those squirrels I'm sure have no idea of his "evil" intent LOL).
Rauri too has a slight heaviness of breathing when he's out and very active. Not really a wheeze, click or whistle and he's been to the vet for a checkup and is fine healthwise. He did have at least one RI in his past before we got him so it may be some sort of permanent lung damage slight though it is.
