Congrats! And welcome to the world of hognose keeping!!!

Now just try to resist the temptation of handling your new pet while focusing on getting her eating. That's one of the hardest parts, hahahaha... Oh, and deciding what snake you want next!!

i handled her briefly to get a quick weigh and she was incredibly calm, she bluff striked once but i think it was because i moved a bit too fast. she didnt wanna leave my hand to go back into her tub! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...17a78a86af.jpg (also she does indeed weigh 10g) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5a70be6b07.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d0bea25a4f.jpg shes so small its incredibly hard to get a good focus on her!

They are sooooo tiny when young, my boy Cosmo was 11 grams when he came to me.

Handling briefly is no problem at all, I just got my new Borneo last weekend and he's been out for a minute here and there. Just try to resist daily handling or any sessions longer than a few minutes to change water, etc...
It's actually a little easier to resist temptation with hognose since they eat so often when young. Since you can't handle for at least 24 hours after they eat, that means there's a lot if days you can't handle them anyway.

Keep us posted!! I'm excited to see her grow and compare it to Cosmo's growth. My next hognose (prob a few years away) will definitely be a female

and yeah! i had to get a female cause i wanted a bigger snake. almost got a BP initially. plus i had the name luna picked before i even decided and that doesnt go to well with a male!

If you're not sure, play it safe. If they CAN find their way out, they WILL. So definitely make sure it's escape proof. I lost a Kingsnake years ago that way.

the issue is thats all her air holes, so i cant really cover all of them cause the humidity will go up. when i put her in there she did her rounds trying to get out like all the corners everything but didnt even attempt the holes

DAY 2!!! shes such a sweetheart, a tiny little girl but i love her to death. she doesnt like the light very much i can tell, i woke up to her curled up in her hide and turned the lights and she immediately burrowed herself! before taking these pics i found her curled under her water bowl. she tends to be a bit scared when you first go to pick her up but once she realizes youre not trying to harm her shes a sweetheart! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6a5a295cb0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d492820fdb.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e2384676d7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8cbc554bad.jpg tomorrow the mice are coming in, so shell get her first feeding attempt, which if anyone sees this, is it best to feed hoggies during the day or at night when the lights go off?

    Re: Meet Luna!
i just moved the water dish so she couldnt go under it cause i know everything is supposed to be directly on the bottom so i moved it a little more central so she didnt have the grooves to go under it!

Cosmo hides under his water dish all the time.

Actually, so do my King and Borneo. I find that dog food bowls that are hollow underneath make great hides.

i ended up moving it cause its a considerably heavy dish and i didnt want it hurting her :( i just started a progression thread for her!
