    *WARNING* Graphic First feeding bite
Well after two years of having reptiles and mainly BPs it was inevitable....out of everyone it was my Banana, Bubbles that got me lol https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...96fbe31531.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...97bb7b84c5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f301376368.jpg

I have only been bit defensively, by 2 scared hatchlings. Though today I thawed 2 rats in the snake room, for a couple hours and the pythons were anxious from the aroma! and when I opened flame’s enclosure, she was so aroused by the warm rat scent that she lunged at my heat profile, because I had not yet heated the rat with a blow-dryer! Next time I will heat up the rat before I open the cage! 😂

Actually it didn’t, his aim has been off the past three feedings cause he’s been on his tree. He pushes the screen to get to the rat that’s on top of it.(scenting his cage) but wow what strength, I lost feeling in my middle finger cause he constricted so hard lol I mean just look at it, it was purple lol.but this was the end result after I cleaned it uphttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b5fb99b138.jpg

I am triggered so hard by this. Perhaps because I just got tagged today during my GTPs vet checkup and I am feeling sulky

I hate to say it, but my first thought seeing your blue finger was that you stayed calm and waited for your BP to release.

One of the first things I told my daughter before she got her BP was that someday she might get bitten and when she did it was important that she stay calm and wait for the snake to release. Otherwise, she would risk injuring the snake.

Little did I know that as she was selecting her BP, pulling one tub out of the rack after another, she would inadvertently pull the tub labeled "Children's Python" and find a young Children's Python that was, contrary to its name, not very fond of children. To my delight, she stayed calm and waited for him to release. Happily, both child and python lived to tell their story.

I've been tagged a few times during feeding, but never thought much of getting tagged until I got nailed by my male eastern indigo during feeding....I now use long tongs lol

Hah, that reminds me of something I've seen a bunch of years ago !!

During a fair in Savannah, GA they had a "educational reptile show". They started talking about how endangered the Eastern Indigo snake has become. One guy brought this BEAUTIFUL Eastern Indigo out to walk around and show it off.

I watched the snake slowly and deliberately slither around his wrist and then open its mouth and latch on!!! I have to say..the guy kept his cool !!! LOL. I don't think many people even noticed what happened. I saw him grimace for a second and tense up, then he kept walking around with the snakes face attached to his wrist...hehe. He moved that arm below the other arm to try to hide the "bite".

The snake wasn't letting go, either. He finally walked (fast) behind the stage, lol..

I had a baby that did that once then proceeded to try and swallow my thumb. Mouthing my thumb was not what I was expecting! She is now my largest ball python. I stopped weighing her when she hit 5000 grams. She is enormous. Looks like a blood python. No spaces between scales either.

Lol yes I have good control of my actions when it comes to my animals lol this isn’t the first time I’ve been bitten by an animal, my 125lb yellow lab had a seizure, I thought she was choking and well when I went to do cpr and clear her mouth she chomped down on my hand....this was before I knew what it was. I didn’t flinch and trust me it hurt. I got lucky and no broken bones or skin believe it or not, just a lot of bruising. The heat signature on my hand was higher then the rat....that was my mistake

This is the unusual part about this whole ordeal my middle finger is the primary victim with the actual bite.....but my ring finger is bruised to holy hell....and I’m thinking it’s because of the constriction! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9200acfef2.jpg

    Oh, please post pictures !!!

I LOVE the big ones. I have a 3000 gr. male right now. I used to have 2 big girls, both were rescues. One at 3500 gr and one giant one at 4500 gr. Neither one was fat, either. Just BIG.

Would love to see your girl.

Yea it totally caught me off guard how powerful they truly are. I really have a stronger respect for them. But I still can’t wait for my BCI to get big lol she already has an insane feeding response so I can only imagine when she’s 8feet and big lol

As long as she don't use that feeding response on you, LOL !!! :P

The only painful bite I ever got was from a BCI ! She got me right between the thumb and forefinger. Her upper jaw was on top of my hand, lower jaw on the bottom. Her top teeth pierced a big vein on top of my hand and I had a golfball sized swelling of blood under the skin within literally seconds. The swelling went down within a day, but gosh, my hand was black and blue (then green and yellow) for 2 weeks. Plus I picked teeth out of itchy spots days later !!

That was a good one :(

Well none of the snake bites I've had over the years comes anywhere close to the pain of my old Hamster's bite when I foolishly put my hand in his bed when he wasn't moving :)

Yup! I would take a snake bite any day compared to a rodent bite. I've gotten smoked by one of the females in my breeder rack before and it was by far the worst animal bite I've ever gotten. She sunk in about 1/2" into my thumb muscle, WOW did that hurt.

That whole rumor about rats being able to eat through a steel drain pipe? I believe it.

Back when I took in rescues, I had to feed some of them "live" food before getting them to switch to F/T.

One time I went to a petstore that sold live feeders and asked for a medium rat.

    O.M.G.!!

The next thing I hear is a scream and curse words flying and the associate comes running to the front of the store with blood running down his arm and dripping on the floor. The rat bit him and bit him HARD. Everyone started to run around and they ended up taking him to the Urgent Care since he was also feeling "faint" and needed a tetanus shot.

I was standing around contemplating whether it would be a good time to ask if I could get a the rat now...LOL.

Yeah those rodent bites are no joke. Back when I was working for petsmart I once had a hamster bite me in front of a customer. I ended up bleeding all over the paperwork. Part of what drew me to snakes in the first place

I haven't been actually "bitten" by my ferrets, but sometimes even a play bite while I'm playing with them can be pretty painful. Was bitten by a hamster and a rat as a kid.
I'll take a snake bite (giants and hots excluded) over rodent bite any day
