UTH size!

I am trying to buy zoo med UTH, which has 10~20 gallon size and 20~30 gallon size and so on.
I am going to use 50 qt platsic bin, linked below when my snake grows. Which would be a better choice to heat this tub?
As a baby, I am going to use 15 qt tub, with heat tape that I will get from repticon so that is not a worry. Just need size of heatpad for 50qt tub. I know 1/4 or something like that but I can't calculate honestly. What size are you guys using? for similar size tub.

Get a big one. (30 gallon) The little ones are more for tiny lizards IMO.
Please reconsider zoomed, as Flukers heat mat is much better.

UTHs should cover 1/3 of the bottom of the enclosure.

figure out the length (or the longest side) of the tub, divide by 3, and find a UTH about that size!

UltraTherm UTHs are my personal preferred brand.

Just looked up ultratherm, looks nearly identical to the flukers, and I would also recommend that one. Basically get a flat plastic heat mat (same as heat tape) instead of a padded UTH

Okay,, I did look into that and thought it was great product. My only worry was that the description says the pad stays below 95 degrees. I am going to use thermostat but if heat pad stays below 95 degrees without any control, what happens if I need more heat to provide enough temperature inside? It is not like heat pad temperature isn't going to deliver its heat 100% inside the tub since pad is outside. My room temp is at around 73~75. Does that matter? do you get enough heat from that pad? thank you

You only need 92 for the UTH. The rest of the ambient air tub temps should be heated by a separate source. I use s space heater for my rack, but for a single tub I would probably use a ceramic heat emitter.
(Both the UTH and the ambient heater will need their own separate thermostat and probe, so I recommend getting a dual control thermostat, or you can buy 2 separate thermostats.

Heating control is by far the most expensive part of keeping snakes, unless you live in a tropical climate!

I second taylors advice.
Of the ultratherms, i have the 6x11size for tubs that are 15q and 9q.
For the 50q i would suggest the 11x11.

I imagine you know this, but i will say it as well, make sure tou have a thermostat to safely regulate the uth with.
