    My retic progression thread (Marvin)
This is Marvin. I've had him for a few months and I love him. He's very fun to interact with. He eats anything and everything. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ea210e7243.jpg this is when I got him and the next one is now like 3 months later and more that 2x the length and weight https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...40e7f8a9ad.jpg

I was trying to take a better recent pic of him on me but he crapped all over me trying to take it. :(

Very cool! I just recently got my first retic, and i absolutely love him. They sure are different from the other species i've had. Is he a mainland or does he have some dwarf percentages?

He is about 6 months old now. I've had him for three months and he's doubled in size since I got him.

He is a 100% mainland, no dwarf blood in him.

Nice! It will be nice to be able to compare growth/feeding with you over time.

Is yours a full blood or a dwarf? It will be awesome to compare growth and weight.

I caught Marvin tonight starting a shed. I’ve never seen one shed before my eyes! Super cool! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b64d71c415.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...891eebf88d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...22b165d71e.jpg

Haven’t done an update in a long time and this will the the final one for this thread. Last night I got home at about 2:00 am from working late. Decided to give my snakes a little attention and interaction before I went to bed. This morning I woke up and found my retic Marvin dead. No warning, no signs before hand, just suddenly gone. He always was a strong feeder, always had perfect heat and humidity due to good gauges and a good thermostat. He will be missed :(

So very sorry to hear your news ... just wondering have you been experiencing a heat wave and freakishly high temps in your parts like many parts of the world have ??

That gadget shown below is that one of those dual purpose ( temp & humidity ) ones ?

I can't see what the readings are but is that what you've been using to check temps and humidity ?

No weird temp stuff happening here. He hasn’t been in that tank for a good 5 months now. I moved and he’s been living in a large rack. That gauge doesn’t fit in the rack so I stopped using it. Plus you guys said it was bad in another thread.

But yeah, that pic is a dual humidity and temp one.

That's fine ..... I was just going to mention that those stand alone ones aren't much use for getting accurate surface temps and are only giving ambient air temps ..

I've seen so many reports recently of people having snakes pass away overnight and the common thing was simple overheating due to crazily high temps from freaky weather ..

Yes, That is how I underderstood it. I have a infrared heat gun for exact surface temps with my reptiles.

Ah well .. maybe best not to be overthinking things at this time ..
These things happen with snakes , lizards and all kinds of critters .

We had a pair of pet Ducks a few years ago and one morning we found one of them dead in the middle of the garden , not a scratch on her ... we asked a local experienced guy and he said that some can just suffer heart attacks out of the blue .. .
