    My Dumerils Boas
    Greetings All

I have a 9 year old pair of Dumerils Boas.
The female is about 1,8 meters in length and the male is about 2 meters in length.

I will try to post some pics, sorry if they don't come out, it is my first attempt at posting pics on this Forum.

Nice. Dumerils are pretty sweet. Such loungers lol. Here is my girl. She's about 1.5 years old and about 3.5 ft or so.

    Your Girl is awesome.

My female can be a bit feisty, in terms of not wanting to be held, she never strikes out though, just fights to get away.
The male is so laidback that my 3 year old grandaughter strokes him and plays with him.

Thanks. My girl only really shows any sign of apprehension when i offer her a FT weaned rat lol. She coils up, puffs up and strikes at it like a machine gun and then runs off at top speed haha. Never seen a snake scared of food. Although if you lay it down on a piece of cardboard next to a FT mouse, she will come over, eat the mouse and then eat the rat. Go figure

These two of mine smash a jumbo rat every 14 days.
I actually suspect that my male is over weight.

I will post a pic of me holding him.
But I don't know who is more over weight, me or him.

Thats what overfeeding does. Makes snakes grow bigger faster.....and shortens their lives by about 10 years or more. Grats on your achievements power feeding king!! That is my new name for you, you are no longer Dutti, you will be known as 'Power Feeding King' to me :D Is that dumerils up to 400+ gram jumbo rats too? Or is it eating goats yet? Lol.

That's so interesting your dumeril's are all apprehensive towards food! Mine just bites the head and doesn't wrap, maybe sometimes throws one loose coil over the rat and then starts eating. But she has never been scared of anything really. I got her when she was 2 years old and about 3.5 feet.

Well, Luna isnt scared of her mice. She goes gung ho for those and grabs them and does the same thing as yours, she just grabs the head and starts to eat. It's the rats that get her all bent out of shape literally. If i rub it with the dead mouse and lay them together, the 'need' for food outweighs her need to safety and she eats them both haha.

@ Dutti, a quick question. Is your baby a pure Dumeril.

I ask because pure Dumerils rarely exceed 6 - 6,5 feet in length, and typically take about 4 years to get there.
Crosses between Dumerils and their Ground Boa cousins, exceed 7 feet. And growth is far more rapid than in the pure species.
This is just a thought that crossed my mind.

Power Feeding is not healthy at all.

If he ate an oversized meal on only the 16th of November, he doesn't need to eat within a month of the last feed, at the least. That is why he is refusing to eat.

He ate a live medium rat. It was not a big medium rather a small medium. I did not begin yet to weigh the rats that i feed to him like i do with my BCI. I will start doing that from now on

I also do not weigh the rats that I feed to my Dumerils.
I feed them every second weekend, and that is what we call a jumbo rat, I will weigh one the next time I feed.

My feeding cycle is as follows, 1 x Jumbo Rat every 14 days for 3 feeding schedules, then no feed for 21 days, then start the 3 feed schedule again.
I hope what I wrote makes sense.

For the first time ever that I have seen, my male Dumeril did this standing up coil on a rat.
He constricts so hard, that he not only made the rat bleed, but I thought its eyes were going to pop out.

The picture is pretty graphic, my apologies, the intention of the pic is to show off the coil.
