UGH! So I came home after going out to dinner to find him wedged at the top of the tank. Thankfully I have some really strong locks to keep the screen on super tight. Lesson learned, do not silicone cork bark to the side of the cage to hide thermometer probes in a rosy boa tank... they can climb!

Yeah, they're pretty good climbers for a small snake. None of mine have gotten wedged near the top of the tank, but I don't have much up there.

He is gorgeous. I'm so happy for you!

Corny used to do this all the time when i first got him; it drove me nuts!!! and at night, every 10 minutes or so i'd hear the THUMP of him falling down.

hopefully it's just a phase hahaha.

They’ll surprise you, for sure. There’s a lot of personality in that small package. Congrats! Where did you get him?

From Baja Rosy Boas - Ryan Shatto. I am really impressed with his quality and service. Wanted to note he had his first feed last night and ate right away. Off to a great start! He also stopped his spider-snake routine and has settled under the rock I have for him. So much for nice hides :P

I have Ryan’s Rosies too. Congrats. And it’s always the cheapest “just toss it in there” cage furniture that they prefer. It’s like a little kid playing more with the box than what came in the box. Lol

So he has already calmed down and settled in. I put more substrate inside the hides and he really took to it and has been mellow and really relaxed.

This might be the best snake ever! Second feeding and all I had to do was put the pinkie in front of his face, he opened his mouth and started eating it. If only ball pythons were this easy. This i so far the easiest reptile I have ever had acclimate and get feeding.

Third and final break in feeding. He is doing outstanding. Burrowing in the substrate like a worm and eating like a champ! He was out and about for the first time since his last feeding and fed just as quick as before. Next feeding I am upsizing to large pinkies and weighing him.

Here are some pics of him devouring his food

    om nom nom!

Little pig has put on 3 grams. That seems so little but he only weighed 20 grams when I got him so he is gaining weight already. I swear when I was going to put him back in his cage after weighing him he was getting ready to try and eat my knuckle. It was so cute I almost let him.

Yeah, they put on weight fast. Mine were all born at 24-26 grams and they shot up to 28-30 after their first five meals. They're all slowing down now though. I think I'm going to have to start giving them bigger pinkies.

Did he just slowly start checking out your knuckle really intently? It’s completely precious. Caramel does it to my thumb a lot. Rosies are a great little snek.

Yeah LOL! He just slowly moved to my knuckle and started to open his little mouth.

So the little one is growing like mad and pooping like crazy LOL.

Just a little tip for anyone reading... rosy boa + sani chips = happy snake. I waited until cleaning to swap out the substrate and he has been going mad digging everywhere. I feel he is doing his best impersonation of a dune sandworm.
