Interest in a How-to-Do Tall Tub Setup?
I'm going to be installing a new, larger dome on Maze's enclosure soon. Might as well take a million photos of the process! Would anyone be interested if I made a how-to thread for taller tub setups, while I'm at it?

I'll talk about CHEs and backup heating, humidity control, and enrichment options. What'cha think?

I'd be down, would be neat to see as I'm gonna move Germaine into a tub soon.

It may be a few weeks before I can finish it -- I'm still waiting on the final piece in the mail. Apparently it's coming from China???? Whatever, it was only $3. :/

All shall be revealed~. But really, it's just following safe practices, just like with a heat mat. There are right and wrong ways to set up a heat mat, same thing with CHEs.

Please make this! I would like to set up a tub but I need higher ambient heat. A thread on a tub setup with CHE would be great!

Thank you all for your input! I've started writing the guide, and I'm nearly done with that part. I'm waiting on the last piece to arrive in the mail before I can start taking a bunch of pictures of everything and collecting links and reorganizing things. It'll probably be posted in a few weeks.

I'm assuming it should go in the DIY forum, since this is heavily a do-it-yourself kind of thing lol.

I still think taping an UTH to the outside lid of a decent sized tub would act as a makeshift RHP. I guess because of limited access into a tub that wouldn't work. Maybe if it is long enough cut the lid in half and glue down some hinges?
I still think a CHE and plastic make bad bedfellows. Do you guys who use CHEs with tubs fashion a makeshift screen? If so, doesn't that sort of turn it into the same issues as a screen top glass tank?

Look at me asking silly questions about tubs. :O

The UTH kind of works -- it's just not as effective. I'm using one on my cold side for that right now, since it's pretty chilly inside. I'm hopeful that this new dome I have will allow me to remove it.

On the CHE side, that's basically the short of it. It doesn't have the humidity issues of a tank because only that small area beneath and about an inch around the CHE dome is a screen -- the rest is still plastic and holding in humidity and heat for you. You're still going to be using higher-humidity substrates, and turning it over every week or so, but I've never had to mist.
