Added a BRB to my collection
From the minute I saw my first I knew I had to have one but wanted to wait until I had more snake keeping experience. Thanks to Spazhime for all of your posts and the information about your breeder.
This is my new BRB from Ike Lightener born 7/14/17 - took a few quick pictures with my cell phone the day I unboxed him...not the best pictures but man is he amazing in person. From Ike's pairing of Sultan and Brazita (both high red BRBs) I look forward to watching this little guy grow and see his colors explode through the years.
Currently adjusting well in his temp housing but will live in half an AP T10 (should be shipped today) until he's large enough to stretch out and enjoy the entire enclosure.

Re: Added a BRB to my collection
Thanks everyone!!! I'm really excited about his colors evolving....first feeding with me this morning....nervously excited.
Sauzo - that's what happens when I'm in a hurry and get a fire at work LOL
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
Thank you - he does look great and can't wait to watch his adult colors explode as he grows. No name yet...still thinking...
Tried to feed today but he wasn't interested so I left the prey in the enclosure on a plastic dish - still there....UGH Hopefully he just needs to settle in a little longer.

Try feeding evenings and warm the mouse up with a hairdryer and offer instantly whilst warm ..

Thanks for the advice.
That's what I figure I'll try next.
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
HE ATE!!!!!
I thawed and warmed the fuzzy mouse and when it was presented to him he wanted nothing to do with it....NOTHING....here we go again I thought...
So I left it on the paper and in the morning...GONE!!! I'm sooooo happy he finally ate. Hopefully he'll continue to eat and grow into another beautiful Ike Lightener specimen BRB.
Also got my T10 assembled, F10 cleaned, PAM'd, and ready to add to the stack. Although I have a divider for the T10, I'm going to keep him in the sterilite 16qt tub for about a year or so inside the T10 near the RHP (I'll figure out where while dailing in the temps).
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
HE SHED!!! LMAO - nice surprise this morning when I checked on him after work.
Now I thinking that's why he wasn't interested in eating....husbandry must be acceptable for him....very pleased.
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
I actually have mine in a divided T10 with heat tape on the bottom. With the extra large Exo Terra water dish always full, humidity stays around 90. He also has the snake hide with moss.

Re: Added a BRB to my collection
It's been a while since I've posted;
- Decided to name him Babylon
- He's eating 5 gram hoppers right away when presented, no more leaving it in the tub for him to find, thank goodness as that was stressful.
- I still have him in the tub inside the T10 - just think he's still too small and will be able to squeeze between the glass and I don't want that. Seems easier to have him in the tub for now. 95% humidity - temps are stable - on half paper and half Reptile Prime and spends most of his time in the hide or buried in the bedding.
- Another full shed from him
Things seem to be going smoothly so far and his colors look amazing.
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
I'll grab a couple today LOL

Grabbed a couple pictures today as he shed last week....getting big and looking amazing (IMHO). REALLY looking forward to this Ike Lightener creation transforming into a stunner as he matures. (just my Galaxy S8 phone camera with flash)

Wow look at the color.. Thats awesome. [emoji1362][emoji216]
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
Noticed Babylon was not interested in eating the other day but he did take his hopper eventually after leaving it in the tub with him. Quick check today explains why.....someone's getting ready for new skin!!!

Beautiful snake! The iridescence is amazing!
Could you share some more details about the tub you're using? I'd like to add one to my collection but my room is getting to be a bit full - so a tub would be ideal.

Sorry it took so long to respond - I had him in a 16qt Sterilite with 2-3" of Reptile Prime bedding, a water dish and a hide. I just moved him into a 41qt tub with the same and added a second hide. He spends a lot of time burrowed in the bedding but occasionally I'll find him in the hides.
I figured since he's growing so well I'd move him into a longer enclosure - He's still too small to have in the divided T10 as I'm worried he'll get between the glass and escape or get stuck. I don't want either so the tub it is until he's bigger, I just keep it in the T10 with half under the RHP and all is well.
He just shed again last week....looking better every time.

Yeah - he's a high red from Ike Lightener - He's got some of the nicest rainbow boas I've seen. They grow like other snakes I guess - better to feed appropriate sized prey on a schedule than to overfeed and have an unhealthy snake.
Re: Added a BRB to my collection
Babylon - my Brazilian Rainbow from Ike Lightener shed last night - 11 months old 150g approx 30" eats 10% body weight every 7 days - seems to be doing well.
