Showcase Cages

Does anyone have any experience with Showcase Cages?

I know there are other snake cages available, but I'm specifically curious about these, as I haven't seen them mentioned as often and I like how they look. How are they with heating, ventilation, and humidity?

They are good looking enclosures for sure. I never heard of them before.

Pricey though.

I had one, the 4 foot option.

They are AWESOME cages !! Very well thought out. Indentation for a UTH. Cutouts for lights to fit in , so you can have lights on the outside of the cage, PLUS stack another cage on top. The cages themselves are very attractive (the finishes) Still quite light weight. Easy to keep clean. Good doors. Cages are very sturdy, too.

Shipping is quick.

I really cannot say anything bad about them. If you have the space for these enclosures as well as the funds, I see no negatives.


ps. Not as light weight as some of the PVC cages, but they also don't bow and there are no seams you have to seal or could eventually leak. Much sturdier imho. Heating, venting and ventilation were all easy, as is usual with this type of cage (vs glass). Of course you have to take into account the size of the cage (and height) and choose your heat based on that, as well as the ambient temps in your room.

Seem pricey but definitely seem worth it in utility of features in the design. Obviously were very thought out.

Wow, those are gorgeous cages. Never had heard of them before. A bit pricey though. I have all AP cages now and am happy with them but those are some pretty cages there - drool, drool.

I wonder if you can mount an RHP in them just like we do with the AP cages??

I don't see why not ? You can easily drill into that material.

Nice cages but AP is going to be your best bang for the buck unless you are a handyman and have all the tools yourself and time.

I actually am an engineer, so I do have tools on hand, but what do you mean? Do the Showcase Cages need alterations made to be suitable for a bp?

No, i meant the best bang for the buck would actually be you building a cage yourself but you would need the routers, saws, benches, all the tools.

These Showcase cages are well-built, out of high-density plastic (polypropalene [sp] I believe). They are similar to Vision cages, but a little heavier and better built, in my opinion. I like them, especially for humidity loving reptiles (like ball pythons). You can soak the substrate to bump up humidity (if using appropriate materials, like Cypress mulch, not shredded aspen, of course). They also have a number of openings in the top for various light fixtures (at least the larger ones do). I'm trying to save up money to buy a stack of 3 of their 5 foot cages. As others have said, they are not cheap, but in my opinion a little better built than Visions and more durable than PVC cages.

Oh - the other thing about Showcase cages is that they typically sell directly to the end-user; thus almost no reptile stores sell new Showcase cages (there might be a couple of exceptions). Thus, it's difficult to get a deal on multiple cages (shipping cost is basically required, you can't drive down and pick them up to save on shipping).

I do not own showcase cages, but I remember reading in the past that they had one issue: the doors did not fit in the track properly on some cages the shipped out, specifically the 4 ft option. Basically the track was uneven and the track would get stuck or slide out sometimes.

That said, the above posters seem happy with them so they may have fixed the issue or gotten lucky. They have some great features such as the seamless design (no need to seal the cage), cut-outs for lighting and heating, and they are made of HDPE. In my opinion, this is arguably the best plastic for snake caging.

The only cons are the potential door issue, I would have liked to see a deeper lip for substrate, but that is more a personal preference. Some have complained that their customer service isn't very good, but that too may have changed. You might do a google search and look around. There are not a ton of reviews, likely to due price and comparable cages being much cheaper (i.e. Animal PLastics, Constrictors NW), but there are some.

Hm, my 4 ft. cage didn't have that issue with the door. Cage was solid, beautiful and everything worked well. Maybe I was just lucky?

I decided to use the space for a rack, rather then a single cage, but that cage was definitely the best built AND attractive cage I've ever owned. For display, I still like the Neodesha slanted cages, and they are quite cheap, but they cannot be stacked unless on a shelf.

I have not seen recent postings regarding this company. The cages look great but their customer service reputation appears to be an oxymoron. Have there been any recent experiences with them?

I called a few times and there was no answer: I sent two emails with no reply.
