What's your favorite BP complex?
not your favorite morph, but family of morphs. some times morphs within the complex makes some cool snakes (Super Black Pastel or BEL or Superstripe for example) or they make real cool combo's when other genes are added (Pastel Calibee or Bamboo Enchi for example). as a keeper or breeder, which is your fav?
8-Ball - Black Pastel/Cinnamon, Het Red Axanthic, Huffman, Lori, Razor
Albino - Albino/Lavender Albino, Candy/Toffee
Black Eye Lucy - Brite, Disco, Fire, Flame, Lemonback, Sauce, Sulfur, Vanilla
Blue Eye Lucy - Bamboo, Butter/Lesser,Daddy, Mocha, Mojo, Mystic/Phantom, Russo, Special
Superstripe - Asphalt, Flare, Gravel, Orange Belly, Spark, Spector, YB
Spider - Black Head, Spider
got this list from OWAL: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...d-allelic-list

Albino is my fav morph, it's so classic, so simple and beautiful but i love BlueEL as a whole and their possibilities. :)

Re: What's your favorite BP complex?
none of the above. I like yellowish/orangish snakes with reduced pattern, especially contrasted black on yellow, I also like some of the stripes.
I could care less about "groups" I just like pretty snakes.
-
Personally I like the pieds, the clowns, and the highway / freeway complexes, especially if you throw in the pastel.
Freeway (Asphalt / Yellowbelly), an allelic pairing of genes:

those recessives aren't really a complex and the Highways/Freeways are a designer morph combos from the Superstripe complex. :gj:

Re: What's your favorite BP complex?
Huge Bel complex fan. Considering trying to breed one once I'm knowledgeable enough.
I also like spiders and think bees are absolutely awesome.

Just an FYI, Lav is not part of the Albino complex. :gj:

pieds pieds and more pieds

Re: What's your favorite BP complex?
I am definitely one for the super stripe complex. I have both a super stripe and super specter and my focus is going to be super specters. I absolutely love the striping!

As a noob, I'm curious as to what defines a complex? Are they morphs that are challenging to breed or just complex combinations?
Thanks!

:) Neither. The nice thing about BPs is that both normals and insane combinations require the exact same care.
A "complex" is a genetics term for genes which are on the same locus as each another. We call them allelic morphs. A few examples are the BEL complex, YB complex, Fire complex, etc...

I'd like to amend, complex a hobby term used to describe the group of allelic genes, the genetic term.
Now I love my BEL, but if we are talking whole complex, it's hard for me not to say BlkEL complex, way too many cool variations.

Exactly.

I ended up voting BEL, but that's not really a true reflection of my feelings, more a reflection of what I have and my future breeding plans. I adore the morphs in the cinnamon/BP group and some members of the fire group (mainly vanilla TBH). Lavender all the way, but it shouldn't be grouped with normal albino, candy & toffee...
-
I find it interesting how it's almost an even spread right now, then blue eyed has a 5x lead

I just like snakes. They are all pretty in their own distinct way.
