    Question about online purchasing
    Hey guys!!

So I found a little beep that me and my wife fell in love with, the thing is that we’ve never bought online and we are one of those young crazy couples that took us a while to even believe in amazon lol, anyways... what makes me hesitate is that I found the breeder on morphmarket, but he’s a new member by a week only, and I’m not sure on how to confirm that the transaction is going to be legit, is there any way to prevent any type of scam using PayPal?

Any comments, suggestions, anything is more than welcome, thank you guys!

check out the good advice in this recent thread: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...10#post2564110

the seller may be new to MorphMarket, but may have feedback and history on FaunaClassifieds or even here on BP.net

also u can always put in a dispute via Paypal if u get ripped off as long as u don't send the payment as a gift (which can be a red flag in itself).

Edit: also f/u with the seller asap esp. if there's something wrong. don't wait, u gotta push for a swift resolution. some peeps even take pix or vids of their unboxing just in case.

have you check the Fauna Classifieds BOI? or googled the name? i'd start there.

i use PayPal for a lot of purchases due to how easy it is to dispute charges and get your money back when not satisfied. NEVER use the family/friends option when sending money through PayPal; run from anyone who asks you to use that option.

you could also message the seller and ask about their guarantees, return/exchange policy if they have one, shipping, the specific snake's health and eating/shedding records as well as the parents the snake came from. any breeder worth their salt will be happy to answer any and all questions you have in a timely manner.

EDIT: Ax01 beat me to it. :(

Ditto to what they said. Also, ask the seller what their shipping method and policies are.. Some have parameters for weather in which they will ship. All shipping should be next day / overnight either fedex or ups. Shipping charges are usually separate and range around $55-$60 on average. Also, the seller should be able to work with you and find a good shipping day where you can be home to receive the package.

What makes me hesitate it’s the price, it’s a beautiful spinnerblast for 175 with shipping included, and he’s willing to add on her sister a bumblebee for 100$ more, he said he would do 250 for both with shipping and that sounds great but unrealistic lol

for someone new in the market you have two options: have the best animals, or the best price. this seller might just be trying to get noticed with their prices. i agree that sounds amazing and your skepticism is definitely warranted. i'd just ask as many questions as i can so i can try and spot any red flags. also i'd ask for more photos, just because.

He said they’re both about 50grams and eating rat pup, isn’t 50gr too small?

did they say how old the snakes were? rat pups for a 50g beep is impossible...

If you have no previous experience please do not purchase a 50 grams snakes, the average BP will be about 45 grams to 75 grams on average, out of the egg and need to be well started.

I can tell you that making sure that the BP is a good feeder feeding at least 3 to 5 times and has had 1 bowel movement is something important.

If they are both 50 grams first they do not eat rat pups that is physically impossible, a knowledgeable breed would know the terminology of the prey he feeds to his animals, additionally at 50 grams the animal may have had one meal if you are lucky but is likely un-started as well, not a good choice for anyone as a lot of things can happen such as failure to thrive hence the importance of a well started individual.

Out of curiosity can you PM me the name of the breeder?

    He said this...

I only start them on rat pups unless they are from a boob egg and usually around 20 grams they get a mouse fuzzy

Obviously someone that does not know rat terminology, I can tell you feeding a pup to a 60 grams animal is IMPOSSIBLE, you feed pink, or crawler depending on the BP's size.

There is still the question of hatch date they are listed as 2016? So if they are 2016 there is an obvious issue.

Now I understand he may be new hence the free account, but accurately listing the animal (proper year) and knowing feeder terminology are really basics.

i think i found the listing. could be the kids or a family member who doesn't know much answering emails for the true breeders? just a guess, idk. still, red flags.

I'm thinking the hatch year is just a mistake, however there is little other information in the listing.

Obviously a terminology issue which is fine, he obviously does not realize that a rat pup is 2 weeks old with eyes open and weighing between 20 and 30 grams not your first meal for a BP.

Did he give you an hatch date?

    Here is what I found

    http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...=Ricardo+Perez

    Ultimately YOUR decision.

I've seen people define feeder sizes differently, even commercial vendors will vary, especially once you get up to XL, XXL, Jumbo, etc. rats. My main concerns are whether or not the critter is eating, what it's eating (rats vs mice), and whether it takes f/t since I prefer that over live.

As for researching sellers I wrote this up a while back, you may find it useful:

The old excuse of I don't want anyone to take their money back .....more like someone wants to do business but does not want to pay fees, paying fees is the cost of doing business and what he does is against Paypal's TOS.

Find someone else there are tons of honest people out there that do business the right way without violating another company's terms and offering protection.

There are a ton of spinner blast BP's on Morph Market and they're all in about the same price range. I would purchase from a seller who accepts either credit cards or PayPal G&S.

Just want to step in and say that some people don't distinguish between rat pups and fuzzies/crawlers. There's a local breeder here I live who runs a pet store and they aren't on the menu. There's nothing between pinkies and pups and his "pups" are anywhere from fuzzy to almost weaned. They tend to be on the smaller side though, which is frustrating when I want a real pup. His snakes are always in great condition, but I only buy rodents from him when I can't get them anywhere else.

That said, I'd never send money friends and family. I was asked once and I took my business elsewhere. I don't think I'd buy from someone who got the birth year wrong either. Obvious mistakes like that typically turn me off from ever inquiring about an animal.

go with a real pro in my opinion. I went with a very well-known and admired professional breeder for my breeding stud. If I was just buying a pet and not a high-end stud, I would not be as picky, but I would still lean towards someone with a professional manner.

I am firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and prefer to pay more for a snake, if the breeder is very professional and the animal seems healthy and high-quality.

I’m really not planning on breeding, I’m just a reptile enthusiast, I have a couple beardies, a gecko and noodle, but (don’t tell my other reptiles) I just really fell in love with snakes, I really appreciate all the help and all the comments and opinions and I’ll use that to look for hopefully my next baby, I feel like I learned a lot today and I couldn’t appreciate you guys more, I’ll keep you updated on my little one, I’ll for sure have her or him by the 10th!

Absolutely no business with people who expect FnF payment, imho. Too risky, no recourse. Nevermind that it's against the TOS.
