My Tank.
So, I got some pictures of my tank... but you're gonna have to go to the account 'cause I don't know how to post pictures here. lol
I've got Forest floor as the Substrate.
A 60 watt CHE for the ambient heat. <---(On but not really hot at all??)
A UTH (that is not on right now 'cause I don't have a thermostat.)
2 Hides
Thermometer and Humidity Gauge. (Digital)
A couple of water bowls. Not in the tank, only one is in the tank.)
Thanks for checking out my post. :D

I can't see them. If you get the tapatalk app on your phone it's super easy.

Re: My Tank.
get a fake leaf vine or two to put in there and clutter up the tank.
two identical cave-like (one opening) hides is SOP (standard operating procedure) for beeps. half-log hides don't provide the best security for the snake. i'd get two more hides that are identical and cave-like and place them in there amongst your other hides.
cover the remaining two sides with dark paper or fabric.
you seemed like you were questioning your CHE. is it regulated? have you let it run and monitored temps?

I would only change the hides to make them identical. Foil over three sections of those screens on top ang get an accurite thermometer/hygrometer. Plants for your beep to feel more secure. Great start! Most of us hate those logs. They are not secure enough for beepers. And once peed on toss it anyway.

I don't have a thermostat for my CHE, i'm just letting it run for now to see how hot it gets, but I am getting 2 thermostats, 1 for the CHE and 1 for the UTH.

You can get a dimmer/rheostat too for your Che.

Can you link me to a Rheostat, please?
you don't have to link it for me, found some. ^

You can get this at lowes or home depot or on Amazon works like a champ just make sure to have a thermometer to check the temp under it to dial it in.

the lamp itself or the ambient temps in the enclosure?

The temp in the enclosure is 78. The ambient temp. I guess that's where everyone is suggesting foil and stuff.

what's your target temp? is that measurement from under the lamp on substrate or the opposite side?
78° isn't bad.
-
Foil is to keep your humidity in. You might up your Che to a 75 or 100w

in my 20gal glass enclosure i use a 100 W CHE with a dimmer on the cool side which keeps everything around 80°.
you might need a higher watt bulb. check to see what wattage the dome your using is rated for; you might be able to just swap out bulbs.

100W is what it can hold up too.

then you can get a 100 W bulb and that will definitely get warmer.

Re: My Tank.
I got two identical hides for my son's snake but we left the log that looks just like that in between the two new hides since he is in a 40 gal. He still hangs out in the log 90%of the time. He uses the other two occasionally but whenever it's feeding time he's under the log every single time.

One of mine likes the log too, but most prefer the cave types.
Zeus, don't worry too much about a 78 F temperatire from your CHE, I speculate that once you have the UTH working and regulated to 90-92 F at the hot spot, and some insulation covering the screen on the hot side of the tank, your ambients will go up to 80 no problem. There will be more overall heat with the UTH in the equation.
