    More Monty
We just took him out for a second time, he was still a little skittish but MUCH better than last time. With a bit of patience I think he will take quite well to handling.
He still gets a bit upset when we put him back in his viv though 'cruising'.

That'd be our Baby girl. I know snakes really don't have personalities per se but Baby definitely shows preference for being with us, in physical contact with us when she's out for handling sessions and will argue the point about going back in her enclosure. If she explores a bit, she comes back to us almost as if we represent a human "hide" (safety) to her, sort of touches us, then goes back to cautiously checking things out a bit more.

Punky on the other hand has what we call "Punky's Great Adventures". Checks everything out thoroughly and once "discovered" a 2 litre of Coke on the kitchen floor, wrapped around it and was not amused when we removed her from her lovely find! We now refer to Coca Cola as Punky Cola in our house LOL. I'm not sure if it's because Punkin is older than Baby and therefore more confident or just a difference in the snakes.

He's a little cutie. :) My boa is like that; never ever wants to go back in.

More slow but steady improvement. He seems to have almost completely lost the 'flinching' behaviour that he had but he stills keeps on trying to crawl away (I'm practicing the 'hauling in the rope' technique for handling him. I hope he will just settle down and wrap around my arm.

When I fed him today I ended up jerking my hand back as he struck ( afraid he was oing for my finger) and flung he rat across the room. Whilst I went looking for it he was so intent on hunting he actually struck in the direction of the hotlamp. It seems to me that the rodent smell is merely a trigger for hunting behaviour and that heat is what actually guides their attacks. is this right?

He ate it fine when I found it and rinsed it of. Bigger one too today, bordering on weanling size.

Well smell, heat, movement all plays a part I'm sure. My 6.5 month old, Baby is a tad on the "blonde" side and will strike at an empty pair of hemostats when she's in the hunting mood. Baby's a goofus but you can't beat her feeding response LOL.
