First ever ball python! So obsessed!

Hello everyone! I'm a bit new to this forum and to ball python keeping, but, I figured I'd show you all my very first ball python!

He he is a 1.0 Fire Genetic Stripe (according to breeder), and his name is Dewey. I don't have any pictures of him besides the one the breeder has sent me since I'm working on ~perfecting~ his terrarium before I get him shipped. Nonetheless, I'm in love! I'm a sucker for anything with the genetic stripe gene though, so it's not unexpected for me lol.

If anyone's wondering where I am receiving him from, I purchased him from Royal Constrictor Designs run by Garrick DeMeyer. The customer service was A+ and I have yet to find a bad review of him or his business regarding health of the snakes. Anyone else purchase a ball python, crested gecko, or other animal from him? I'd love to hear!

Congrats and a warm welcome! I'm also a new keeper and got my first ball python from the same breeder! So definitely agreeing Garrick has amazing service and incredible snakes! I admit I had considered getting to one of his butter genetic stripes before I fell in love with my mystic potion. But darn there were so many other morphs from him I wanted! Lol

So excited for you! When is your little guy coming home?

The males don't really get that fat actually. They get long, but not thick. I like the females better, because they get HUGE, and their pattern looks even more dramatic as full-blown thick adults.

Yeah, Garrick is awesome and I'm so glad I found him.

Mystic. Potions. Are. So. Beautiful. If I had the budget, I'd totally get one of those beauties. Would you mind sharing a pic? But I still love Dewey, and I think he looks really good compared to what I got him for, if I must say so. The genetic stripes... haha, they always get me.

It really depends on when I can get out to do some shopping. I posted a thread on this, but I'll give a summary :3. I'm having some problems with my cool side and ambient temps, so after posting a thread I've figured out what I need to purchase. I don't want him home until I can get my terrarium conditions spot on, and right now it's not really a definite as to when that'll happen. POSSIBLY within the next couple of weeks or so. Thanks a bunch for the welcome also! This place is so great, and the people on here are so amazing. I've been lurking on this forum, and I'm so glad I finally registered myself!

Haha, jk jk. But yeah, I decided to go with a male because I didn't wanna freak my family out and they're smaller than the ladies, and also because I just seem to gravitate towards male animals when I get pets. It's weird, lol. Ball pythons as a species though I consider a little chubby, hehe.

He's lovely, I love anything striped too! I got a mystic potion with a stripe down his back. So fun to watch them slither when they have a stripe.

Thank you! And I agree 100%... *slither slither* I've been so excited lately that I can't sleep haha. I'm just like, "holy shiz.. I did it... I'm actually getting a snake!". Ahh, how much I love the noodles of the reptiles world.

Omg he's beautiful! I especially love his colors and side patterns! I was as excited as you when I got my boy as well and even now when I'm in the process of getting a second [emoji14] Welcome!

Lovely little g stripe way to go. I'm a bit of a fan of genetic stripe cause its the OG of stripe stuff in the world of ball pythons. I kinda wish i had one.

thanks so much! I'm glad to know there's others out there who get so excited by animals to the point where all they do is think/talk about them, hehe. His colors just grabbed me. Garrick actually suggested him to me after the snake I was initially going to get was already sold- and I couldn't be happier that things happened the way they did!

My Isis and my Ramses both came from Garrick...Isis is a BEL, super Mojave and Ramses is a Nuclear, fire/butter

I have Cleopatra, Ramses, Seti, Nefertiri, Isis, Anhk-Meri-Ra and Osiris...so yeah, Pharoahs, Queens, God's and Goddesses....

thats so awesome, I've always loved ancient Egyptian history and mythology. In fact, one time when I was in Girl Scouts my troop got Egypt, I made an Amut costume out of old salvaged costume parts (lion mane, crocodile mask, grey tail that looked like a hippo) and my friend made an Anubis costume (paper mache). We totally one upped everyone else's country costumes haha. Thanks for sharing though! :D

i love the soft coloration on his head compared to the contrast down the spine. he's a lovely lookin' dude!

now hurry up and get your tank set up so we all can watch him grow and get fat!!! :rofl:

Yeah, what's crazy to me is that I was never into them. Then I held my first snake, which was a green tree python and I was instantly in LOVE!

Just another amazing power of the Snek. I was always into them, but I didn't LOVE them until I held a Kenyan sand boa. That same day I held 2 more snakes and was like "dang I gotta have one". So when the guy behind the counter asked me if I would ever be getting a reptile in the future I said "mmmaaybe". You should've seen the look on my moms face lol.

Alright guys I have FANTASTIC news for you all! Dewey will be arriving Thursday morning!!! Woop Woop!

I am extremely excited. My ambient temperature has now successfully reached approximately 80 degrees for a week, and my humidity has stayed between 55-56% (I did have to re-dampen the towel but as soon as I did everything was fine. The moss kept the humidity at 50 till I got home. Hallelujah haha)! I'm sooooo excited, after roughly a month of unexpected problems! Ahh I've had butterflies all day! My handsome boy is finally coming home!

I am, along with some of my friends, so extremely happy I cannot even describe it. Sadly, I cannot be home when he arrives at my door due to school, so my father's going to unbox and check him for me (I taught him how to recognize certain health problems and parasites like mites, but I'm sure he won't have anything wrong). I told him to snap some pictures, so I'll DEFINITELY be posting those ;3.

Also, not that it matters but I'm sorry for the inactivity! I would love to post and comment on all of your wonderful threads but school has started to go into full swing, plus I've been taking care of a lot of other stuff, so I really can't get on much anymore. But I shall try!

Agree 100%! He helped me throughout the whole purchasing process, and even answered my "I'm checking in and wanna know how he's doing" email. Really awesome.

I cannot describe how over-joyed I am right now that he is finally home! His colors are stunning in person... part of me can't believe that I did this and it's actually happening!!!!! My dad said he had 0 signs of mites or any other health problems, which I didn't expect anyway, and that he was relatively calm when he first arrived! Just kinda chilled lol. My friends are also super super excited. OH AND ONE OTHER THING! His birthday is the 27th.. so I will be able to celebrate his very first birthday! I honestly can't wait to see what this lil bundle of joy is going to bring in the future!
