Using heat lamp just at night

Night time temps have been getting in the low 60's in my area. Would using a red infrared heat bulb just at night to keep the temps up mess with his day/night cycle at all?

use a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) instead of a light bulb. a CHE emits no light and produces heat. make sure to use a thermostat or a rheostat with the heating element; ALL heat sources MUST be regulated.

agreed, use a Ceramic heat emmiter or raise ambient room temps. make sure the CHE has a regulator/thermostate and is out of reach of your snake so it can't burn its self on it. Some kind of netting around it could keep the snake off of it. :)

It would be sitting on the mesh top, and i thought they could not see the red light?

my CHE sits on the mesh top. as long as it's regulated it will be fine.

i'm not entirely sure if they can see red light or not, but i chose a CHE over a bulb so i wouldn't have to worry about it.

Idk if the brightness of it matters either, when its on the dimmer is only on about 15% power so its very dim lighting in the cage itself.

i'm sure whatever you chose will be fine, as long as it's regulated! ;)

Its def regulated its more for holding the temp from the day so the power going to it is never more then 20% i would say from the dimmer

Here is how I have my CHE. I have it on a telescopic pole in a wire cage fixture with it slightly above the screen top and the probe of the thermostat connected to the screen via zip tie and dangling about 4 inches below the top of the screen. I have it dialed into roughly 83 degrees F ambient before it ticks off and it will tick on again before it hits 81. works perfect and he loves basking above his hide on days he feels frisky

I've used red beat bulbs controlled with a dimmer for a couple of years and my Carpet and Olive pythons don't seem to have any issues with them. I keep mine on 24/7 but I do drop the temps a little at night.

I personally prefer the dark purple bulbs. Been using them a while with no negative effects besides they drain humidity. But I have found a balance that works and make seasonal adjustments.
