    Why so grumpy?
So Yesterday I changed Pua's bedding and cleaned his tub. Now he's kinda acting like a :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:. He's always in an s shaped posture and stares me down whenever his tub is open. I've heard of Ball Pythons acting up after cleanings, but can anyone give me some insight and stuff? I haven't been holding him as frequently as I'd like to, so I'm worried he's loosing his "tameness" in a way. He's also not even a year. He's about 9 months old at the moment. I just don't want him to become aggressive, and he usually was a curious and friendly snake.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e06a3161b0.jpg
Here's him in his S pose and staring me down.

He's on small rats every 2 weeks. He got really fat when he was fed weekly on small rats so I stretched out his feeding. A lot of people recommended that I put him on a 2 week schedule

He could possibly be just a little stirred up after the cleaning

I keep reading these grumpy posts and I'm like huh? My snakes at work and home are so docile. I can't imagine boople or Odyn snapping. Now that I say that.....lol it will happen soon enough lol

Looks like possibly just ornery about the change and trying to tell you to give him some space.

If he's slimmed back down, you can try moving back to one week since hungry MIGHT be it, too.

What is the weight of the snake?
What is the weight of the rats?

It may be that he is hungry if he's on a two week feeding schedule. I'm surprised to see a juvenile on a two week feeding schedule. The proper sized meal once a week is what is recommended.

There're 2 possibilities that he becomes grumpy. Firstly, my bp is sometimes like that too when i touch him or move him away while cleaning. It could be that he's hungry. A 9-month-old is still growing and need enough nutrition for healthy development. In my opinion you can feed him weekly. The weight of the prey should be 10% of your bp weight? :)

Adult ball pythons even with their slower metabolism are fed 7-10 days. Your 9 months bp should be eating every 7 days.

Ok, thanks... so a 40 gram rat once a week should be perfect until he hits about 500 grams.

That sounds good. Then what do you recommend he goes on after 500?

Once he gets around the 500 gram mark you can go up a size in prey. Since he's a male he prob will never outgrow sm adult rats (50-89 grams typically).

40 grams is a weaned rat. A small rat is 50-89 grams like Craig said. Have you seen this chart before?
