    Humidity gauge?
I just went through all the stickies and all the humidity gauges in the stickies are temperature as well. I have a temp gun so I don't need the heat with the humidity. Is there a better brand of humidity gauge without temp I should look at?

Also where do I place the probe (if there is one) for the humidity gauge.

I just took took out booples stupid stick on one cause no stick on anything inside her enclosure. Not risking that!!!!

    thanks in advance.

i think most of them nowadays are dual hygro/thermometers so you might not be able to find a hygrometer only that suits your needs. sorry i can't be more helpful here!

I've only used the dual purpose units. It certainly won't hurt if the hydrometer also reads temps.

Accurate a have probes just for temp or probes for humidity as well? Where do I place the probe?

and do your snakes knock it over?

No probe. Just put them in the enclosure. Nothing to injure the snake. I have at least 10 of them, probably more.

I have them in all my enclosures, no probes. No sharp edges, very lightweight, no risk to the animals. They will move them around a bit and occasionally knock them over, but I try to prop them up with strategically placed tank décor, branches, etc... so they don't get knocked over as easily.

Cigar humidor hygrometers are very good. I have used this 3 for at least 7 years with no problems, just battery replacement. You can re-calibrate them as well.

    I use https://www.walmart.com/ip/AcuRite-D...00325/16888914

Been using them for years and they work fine. Might not be precise down to 0.01 of a degree or percent in humidity but still gives you a general idea.

And they are pretty durable. My retic has pushed his into his water bowl twice and they have sat overnight in it. They dont work when you take them out but once i drained the water out of it and let it sit on the table for a day, it worked again and is giving the same readings as my other ones.

And yes, snakes will knock them over and push them around and even go through phases where they try and poop on them

Some people will stick theirs to the cage sides. I just put mine up on their shelves. That way i can take them out when i do the monthly/bimonthly cage cleaning with F10SC.

I took the other ones out because they had a sticky back so that is never an option.

I ordered two of the accurite ones. One for booplesnoop and one for odyn. I also ordered two Jumpstart to regulate their uth since they are unplugged at the moment.

Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate each and every one of you.

When I first got my Herpstat, I noticed they offer a humidity probe so I called to order it. I spoke with Dion and he told me to just buy a combo unit from Xikar as that is what they use to calibrate theirs. After installing it I noticed a 5-10% difference from the accurite model. This is what he recommended to me.

Since I have multiple enclosures I've purchased this unit and couldn't be happier...

I figure I'm using the industry leaders product to control my RHP's, why not use the industry leader in humidification monitoring too.

LMAO - I'm running 2 head units and, knock on wood, they're ok....I'm sure they'll fail today thanks LOL

I guess I like the Xikar for their accuracy and awesome customer service. Did I tell you when I called and told them about running 2 separate head units Ken said he would discuss this with R&D and hopefully get it in the works....I then had a lengthy conversation with him about the market that would open up for them (reptile keepers, people with multiple humidors, etc...) He seemed very receptive and actually lost a snake years ago because he didn't maintain humidity and understands our concerns for proper monitoring with accurate devices.

Yeah I remember reading the message you sent me on FB. I quit reading and unfriended you when I saw you say it didn't work!! J/K. But yeah, I did kind of write it off when you said it didn't work.

So you are using 2 head units with 6 gauges? How far apart are the head units? Same room and next to each other? Maybe I'll have to pick up a couple. I think there is a local smoke shop by me that sells them.

    So that's what happened LOL

Yeah - they are literally right next to each other on my desk - I've been lucky....not saying it's going work for you or continue to....it sounds like Xikar is going to work on an "A/B" switch to get different frequencies set up for this but getting a frequency is their main hurdle I guess.
