New snake tank add-on's and toys?
Hey everyone so I have recently have gotten a new ball python and so far I love her to bits but her tank is kinda baron she has her water and her hide hole and a box I had cut a few holes in and smoothed out for her to crawl through and hide in. BUT I am wondering what everyone else thinks is good for in her tank like what kind of foliage (like fake plants) or tubes, pipes, or branches. what is safe and what isn't for my new scaly friend. Any helpful tips and idea would be greatly appreciated!

Pua loves paper towels tubes. He just likes to squeeze himself up in one. Foliage, rocks, extra hides, all are good for you noodle.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0241ff1327.jpg

My BP really likes climbing, so we're planning to add some large driftwood pieces for him to climb on. Also hoping to add an elevated hide to the side of his tub since he seems to like being up high!

Added a slate stone in there that I used a Dremal tool to grind down the edges and sharp spots. It's still rough enough to help with shedding and climbing onto it but not sharp enough to cause any cuts to the little one. Made sure to scrub it and boil it really well to be sure I'm not introducing any bugs or molds to the tank. Also have added a towel tube like JustinGatCat had stated and will soon head to a pet store to pick up some driftwood/branches to add for some height that mine might find enjoyable like Suffico said his likes. I will more than likely add some free standing plants that should be able to hold her up. Please keep the ideas coming I'd love to deck out her tank and make her feel really at home.

These fake vines are the best. I bought 5 or 6 of these already.

How about a heat source and a thermostat?

Have a lamp and pad watching the temps close for now till my thermostat gets here.

I'd turn off the UTH and just have the lamp until your thermostat gets here. Any UTH plugged straight into the wall reaches 110~130 degrees within 5 minutes.

Yeah that I noticed and have unplugged the UTH. The lamp is holding the warm side at 85-90F.

I have pvc tubes in mine, the 2" interior diameter variety cut to 8" length. You can get bigger if you think your snake is destined to be thicker. I have the ExoTerra large mandarin plant and am looking into buying more to maximize his cover options. I also scatter around sphagnum moss for him on occasion, and give him some substrate that's deep enough he can burrow. Perches are also good for enrichment, like ReptiHammocks and the like.

Was wondering about pvc and how well it would work. Was kind of thinking of using a larger pvc cap with smaller tubes off of it for them her to crawl around from as well and makong another hide hole at the same time.

There could be issues retrieving her from such a thing if she happens to get stuck or doesn't want to come out, that's why I went ahead and kept mine short enough he can't cram himself entirely inside.

I have lots of foliage. All around the back of the tank and around the hides and my boy loves them. He loves to explore and climb around in them and they make him feel safe and not so exposed when he moves from one side of the rank to the other

I used black PVC from Home Depot for all of mine - hopefully you can see through the reflection

How much did this cost to make, if you remember? I was considering making a similar jungle gym when my boy moves up to his next size of enclosure, since he doesn't seem fond of his current climbing digs.

FYI - I had to order online as the store doesn't stock the black PVC. Unless you want white which is readily available at the store.

Honestly I don't remember - I made a total of four and still have some pipe and fittings left over as I want to make a larger one for when I have them out of the enclosure to exercise on. Round numbers I probably spent around $200. Now as they get lager I'll probably buy/or build a cat tower for them to use as the 3/4" pvc won't hold outside the enclosures.

I didn't use any pipe cement - they are just press fit so I can change the design if I get bored LOL
