Pollux
Probs just gonna be posting random progression pics. He's not anything too exciting, but still my boy.

This one was taken by the breeder, Junior Rohl of A&R Exotics. Not sure what age he was here, since I bought him as an established two year old and I assume the breeder held him that long since Pollux had a habit of skipping feeding weeks with Mr. Rohl.

Picture taken by me a few days ago, of his progress since the end of May. Stockier, a bit longer, and darker post shed. No longer skipping feeding weeks. He's still a bit hesitant to strike his prey and usually won't until I tap it on his nose. Then it's free game. So that may have been the issue, he's a bit of a "weak" feeder in that respect.
Timid only with his food and fast, unexpected movements.

Pollux's favorite activity, and the position I most often find him in.

Thanks! Took him outside today since the temps were good. He was very eager to slither about, sadly no periscopin' though.

He loves this style of hide. I made them out of chinese takeout containers since I couldn't find anything else that fit him snugly at the time and now he favors them above anything else I put in his enclosure. Probably because he sits there all night with his chin up on the edge, watching.
It's a nightly activity for him. Fed him tonight and he went right back to it after slamming down his rat.

-
One month later and he's blue again. Expected this though, given he spent two years in a breeder's care not being used for any breeding projects. Plus he's slamming down food weekly now.

Honestly considering how quick he went blue, I'm surprised he took his food last weekend. First shed he had with me, he didn't want it. This time he took it quick (least for him). Guess we'll see come next weekend.

Guess he likes the enclosure changes or was VORACIOUS after his shed because all bets were off once I dangled the feeder in there just now. Surprising, given how slow he generally is about getting to the striking bit.

Lovely candid thanks to my GF, from a video I took of him eating. Him eat it WHOLE butt.

Had some time and energy so I updated the digs a bit with: cloth to give him a demi-hide by the water bowl, and two new takeout hides he can observe goings on from since he was flipping the new front-door style ones I made him.
I'm taking that as a sign of protest.

Up to 632 and striking quick. Ended up faceplanting on the glass due to the heat.

Happy, healthy, and about to shed again. 730g now. Probably some of the best pics I have of him thanks to the roommate's new phone and its superior camera. Can actually see his eye color here!

GF snagged some pics of him on the bed while I was cleaning/rearranging his enclosure. Still mad about those stripped scales on his head and hoping he doesn't do that again.

How can you resist that face though? :P

He's a weird animal, I had the enclosure open while his rodent was thawing just now and he made no attempts to get out.
But at 2:30 AM sometimes you just gotta tap out some MAD beats with the hydrogmeter against the glass and then climb out when they investigate the rave so they can't lock you back in. Then stare. And stare some more. And stare again until they cram you back in. I guess.
-
Got the GF to take some shots to see if we could discern his eye color.
Definitely not a pure black but seems like a dark, dark greenish brown with some copper bits.
Hate that he stripped the top off some scales but hardly noticeable here. Should be gone next shed, and it looks like he might be starting on one in a week or two.

No shed yet, but guess he got ravenous to shake the seasonal fasting for now.

Shed happened, figured he'd be hungry since it's been almost two weeks and it happened yesterday. Nope. Oh well. Struck hard enough to rip a rodent leg off but didn't get a good latch and now he's a shrinking violet. Gonna leave it on top of his warm hide and see if he goes for it when completely covered. Maybe the fact it snowed today screwed him up. That's Wisconsin for you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Time to go play Odessey with the girlfriend.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/0Y1LnRO.jpg
Might just start doing once every 2 weeks from here on out unless he's moshing.

He used the GF's macbook cable as a "vine" to climb down from the bed then proceeded to use her sneakers as a hide after he was down there.

IKR? Given his breeder was talking with Northwest Reptiles a while back while they were one of the groups working on SuperPin, wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of Pinstripes from that grouping of more "busy" patterned Pinstripes that were "duds". The Pinstripes they have listed on their website definitely also look a lot like Hera and Pollux; moreso than a lot of the ones I see on places like MorphMarket.

He's taken to sitting in his water bowl the past two days, so I don't know if he's complaining about the hides or what. Gonna have to just monitor him since he's looking a little pink but it's too soon for another shed.

I've never had a Royal soak tbh
Maybe worth wiping it down with some white kitchen paper and check for tiny black mites .. just a precaution

Yeah, was my first thought to but no sign. Plus he's not doing it continuously, like he's back in his cold hide like usual now. Will see if he repeats it during his waking hours tonight. Humidity is saying 65% and I did the humidity salt test on that, so I'm pretty sure that's an accurate reading.
-
Pollux is precious! And he bathes himself. Win win :D
-
Switched out the hides and he's back to being in there. Guess he really didn't like the new ones, so back into the takeout containers from Milwaukee Burger Co he goes.

That's a nice looking Pinstripe you have! Pinstripe is one of my favorite morphs, I love how gold they look. No other morph can give you that high gold color. Here are a few photos of my female Pinstripe for comparison. She is five years old. I just weighed her and she is coming in at 2213 grams, she is a big girl! I'm actually breeding her for the first time this year, I'm pretty excited! I'm crossing her with my Bamboo male, hoping for a Bamboo Pinstripe. Her eyes sure look different than your snake!

All in all, I consider myself lucky having gotten him for $50 as a 2yr old adult. May not be the fanciest of morphs or whatever, but he's got the best temperament out of any snake I've handled up to now. Then again, I've heard conjecture due to how established Pinstripe is as a morph, that the genetic pool is pretty diverse leading to animals with less nerves. Obviously, that may not be true, but seems like it possibly could be since that is part of the basis of domestication.
Mentioning that since the Pinstripe females I see always seem to be very chill animals, including yours.
Yeah, Pollux has dark eyes, only a glimmer of that copper-green at the very top. His sire (Junior Rohl's Milwaukee, a Mojave Pinstripe) has similarly dark eyes for the morph, so probably a little genetic blip.
You can see a bit of it here:

Re: Pollux
My hera(pinstripe) is extremely docile also, I've gotten her to where I can rub her head like she's a puppy dog. My emperor pinstripe tho, he's a bit of an ass right now, real flighty, so he needs some work put in in him.

He gets so pink when sheds are coming up. Absolutely no doubt, even before he starts to blue out.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/jvLsQwg.jpg
Looks like I'll be waiting a week or two to cycle out his substrate and stuff (since that vent looks like he's intending to poop along with the shed). Plenty fine with me since I've been fighting off a bad bit of bronchitis following a typical northern winter cold. Plus dental work.
-
Was lurking in his bowl today so I took that as a sign he was wanting more moistness. Not surprising with the weather we've been having, it sucks the humidity right out of everything. Moss added, bowl filled up again for him.

Pollux gets disconcertingly pink before his eyes cloud up, its hard to catch in photography but all his whites become as pink as the comforter my girlfriend and I have. This thing's like coral pink and I keep worrying the UTH has roasted him somehow, despite the fact I keep it actually a bit low and on a well-monitored thermostat.

Re: Pollux
She's the same way, think because they have really really white bellys. I thought the same when she had her first shed with me, I thought tstat had gone bad and she wss starting to burn, but was just shed.
