Snake not liking proper temps
Ok I have two ball pythons in two separate tanks, my female stays on the hot side where her temps are 88-90. The question is with my male python, he refuses to stay on whatever side that reaches above 80, this is weird to me and I don't want him to be where temps are too low. I have switched the hot side to see if maybe he likes one side more and he goes to the cool side. I tested something today turned off heat and he goes to what would be the hot side (if heat was on). So what does this mean and what should I do to keep him at a good temp?

So what are your cool side temps and how are you measuring temps?

I have acurrite thermometer/hygrometer and also use temp gun, cool side temp on substrate is 76 and 84-86 (had it higher but lowered it cause of him not liking the high temps) on the hot side

So 75 on the hot side is ok for ball python? cause I see so many people talk like that's way too low.

I wouldn't do that. I don't mind having a spot that is as cool as 75F but I always offer a hotspot, which for my BP is at 85F.
My snake room stays between 77 and 84 but they all also have hotspot set to their specific needs for a hotspot.
Re: Snake not liking proper temps
Maybe I'm over thinking it then, I mean he stays either in his hide or under the substrate under his water bowl so I guess he's content since he's not out roaming

The other possibility is if you aren't using the same hides on both sides and he finds the cool side hide more secure somehow.
I've tried switching the hides too and no matter what I do he stays on the cool side, but like I said he rarely comes out to roam so I'll just leave it and let him do him lol

Yeah, let him do him haha- I hear how some BP's just like the cool side :P

I guess it makes sense, my male likes the cool side, the female likes the hot side. They aren't even in the same room and they fight [emoji23]
