Help me identify this snake.
Someone on a local message board posted this picture of a snake they found in their yard. A lot of people are calling it a bull snake. I think it looks more like a corn snake though. It was found in colorado. What are your thoughts?

Re: Help me identify this snake.
It looks like a corn to me too, but their range doesn't extend into Colorado. Both look very much alike, but the head markings look more corn-like than bull-like. There are so many rat snakes that look similar... Beautiful snake though.

Yeah, but I posted it and then deleted after I got an answer yesterday, since it's a public group. I'm don't want my fb friends seeing me post in groups for some reason LOL

No. This is a corn snake. Great plains rat snakes don't come in bright oranges/reds, yellows and blacks.
Re: Help me identify this snake.
Great Plains rat snakes are from the southeast part of colorado and we are in the really far west part of the state. So I think it would be pretty rare to see one here.

Someone posted these pictures on a local message board. I don't know exactly where the snake is and it's probably long gone by now. I told the poster it was someone's lost pet but with all the local "snake experts" insisting it's a native bull snake I doubt anything will be done.
Re: Help me identify this snake.
Do you live on the western slope or the eastern?

It's a cute snake, whatever it is lol
