LOL - I have dreaded this day for many years. Actually had myself so worked up thinking when it did happen it would be absolutely horrible but it was so fast that I didn't know what hit me. It didn't really hurt either. Glad I got that over with.

It was my male panamanian boa. About 1800 grams. He is normally really chill. I reached in his cage when it happened

I'm glad you're okay and that you're okay with him. They can be danger noodles sometimes.

    you did it!!

I've been bitten only twice, one from a baby BP and one from my scrub python, but they were both SO minuscule and ridiculously tiny that it's almost embarrassing to bring it up...

Boas will typically never hurt you badly. Gus Rentfro took a bite from a larger female Peruvian BCC and showed the damage the next day and it wasn't all that bad.

Most pythons in general have longer teeth and all have more.

I hope I never take a bite from ANY of my adults here. I've been bitten by 3 of the 4 we keep. Boa constrictor first, carpet python was the second, and the SD x dwarf retic was the third and never a bite from the royal. None were an issue but the retic covered the most surface area at a young age.

Its a learning experience for us all, and actually a good thing to get out of the way. I can tell you exactly what I did wrong with the boa and retic.

The carpet was just a scared baby and the bites were more comical than anything.

These threads are actually good reminders to us all that we need to mind our safety protocols.

Welcome to the club and here's to not having it happen again LOL!

My current boa tagged me once when I was feeding but that was because I got too close and wasn't as mindful as I should have been. I hardly felt it and it didn't leave a mark. Most of my bites have been from wild caught snakes in the past. When I was younger I would pick up anything I could catch so I got bit more times than I can count.

That's not too bad. My first snake that tagged me is my 11lb rtb
