Red belly? HELP!

I immediately thought burn but it hasn't started to blister or change at all. He dose get pink before he sheds but this seems extreme. It's more toward the end of him the front looks fine. The hottest part of his cadge is 90 and the cold side is 79 Fahrenheit. No heat rocks or anything. The humidity and everything is on point , the only thing I can think we did different is that he ate a rat slightly larger than normal and it was fresh kill. He ate it just fine though. Any ideas?

The third pic looks like a burn to me but the other really don't. Hard to say.

Do you have a thermostat?
Do you have a IR temp gun?
Set up pic?

How are you regulating the heat in the enclosure? What type of substrate are you working with? How are you monitoring the temperatures and humidity? It does look a bit like a oncoming shed cycle. We have to rule out the heat regulation question.

His lower half seems a bit tight he may not have passed the rat yet . He's around 450 g and he is 506 g right now , I just tried to weigh him. I use heat pads with thermometer to gauge the heat it's producing on the hot side (usually sits at 90 but it drops a bit at night)and then a simple thermometer on the cold side. As far as humidity I also use a humidity gauge along with a fogged on a timer.
and I'm using "forest floor" for bedding

Are you using a THERMOSTAT to control the heat pads though? They need to be regulated.

Are you measuring the heat on top of the substrate? It needs to be measured on the tank/tub floor....

Considering the color of the belly the extent of the issue and this " the hot side usually sits and drop at night" that to me would suggest that you do not regulate your tempertures or are using a cheap and unreliable t-stat, the hot side should be consistant and not drop at night either.

First thing unplug the heat IMMIDIATELY until it is regulated with a RELIABLE thermostat..

I'm not seeing a thermostat in all of that equipment, just thermometers. The snake is burned.

Not justifying not having a thermostat but had it not been for this site I would not have one either went to pet store asked for a thermostat she showed me the thermometers now keep in mind she says she had a four year old BP if I haven't read post here I would have taken her at her word and burn up my snake too[emoji24]

The uth should be plugged into a thermostat to control it. The probe for that goes outside the tank between the uth and tank bottom. Then the uth should have a shallow substrate covering, 1/4 inch at most.

You should unplug the uth until you get a tstat. I suggest Herpstat. http://www.spyderrobotics.com/index....=index&cPath=1

Another good thing to but is a IR temp gun so you can better know your tank temps.

This is exactly why it is suggested to do your own research PRIOR to bringing an animal home. Take some time to learn about the animal, not just the setup info, basic care sheet and feeding requirements. Learn about the animal from various, reliable sources and don't take one person's word for anything more than one person's word. Especially pet store employees. There are some good ones out there, but the majority are just working to pay the bills and they figure working with animals for low wages is better than working in a warehouse, restaurant or other entry level job.

Herpstat is the excellent but if you need a more budget friendly one, Jumpstart is pretty good too.
