    Underfeeding my ball python?
    Greetings,

I have a 4 month old, female ball python. She is about 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) long and weighs about 3.5 ounces (98 grams). I am feeding her 1 hopper mouse every 5-7 days. Based off her size and the size of the mice (I'm gonna try and upload pictures--I'm new to the cite), am I underfeeding her? Should I be giving her 2 hopper mice at every feeding? Thank you! :o)

I would convert her over to rat pups instead of offering two hoppers.

Typically you offer a feeder 10-15% of the snake's weight every week until the snake reaches 500 grams, then a small rat every 1-2 weeks for life. Larger females may end up on medium rats.

At this size your BP can take a small adult mouse.

Hoppers are for BP out of the egg and used for their first 3 to 4 meals on average before they move to something bigger.

Based off the pictures I posted, should I go bigger on the mouse? I don't wanna feed her anything too big. Sorry for all the questions. Every time I feed her, she takes the food within seconds. Maybe she's just a real good eater. But I'm worried that she's getting too hungry or something because I'm not feeding her big enough prey. Thank you.

You can definitely feed an adult mouse. Lol you'll be surprised how much they stretch to fit the prey.

A general guideline is for the prey to be about as big around as the widest part of your snake. This has worked for me for 6 years

Thank you everyone for responding. I guess I'll start feeding her small adult mice or rat pups.
