    Wonambi, Spotted Python
Hmm, it seems that while I've posted pictures of Wonambi, my spotted python girl, I've never made a thread for her.

Her enclosure currently sits on top of my dresser, and while getting ready for work this morning I noticed a shed in there. She's a stealth shedder, the most I've ever noticed is a *slightly* pink belly.

So I had to take her out and admire her, and took some pictures. For some reason I kept cutting off her nose [emoji849], but I did get one good shot, with bonus Disapproving Dog:

What type of enclosure do you keep her in? I want to get my Children's Python out of a tub so he has room to climb.

She's in a 24" x 24" x 16" tall PVC enclosure from PMHerps. The material isn't as thick as the AP enclosures, so they don't provide as much insulation, but otherwise they're good. My husband built the jungle gym from PVC and dowels, and I strung the artificial vine on it. She also has a Magnaturals ledge that she lurks on sometimes - one good thing about this enclosure is that the material is thin enough for the Magnaturals.

Silly snek, still feeds best when being held. At least last night I got her to wrap comfortably. The [emoji4]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d70c4ef4bd.jpg

I think she looks much more like a childrens than a spotted.

I was looking at pictures of the two species in a book recently, and thinking the same thing. But I'm not breeding, so I'm not fussed - she's a sweet little girl.

I always restrain myself when people ask how long they should wait after feeding to handle their snakes. Wonambi thinks just as she gets her mouse down is a good time to explore.

After the second picture she turned back and investigated my phone. I tried to put her on the floor of her enclosure, next to her warm hide.
    Nope.
    Ledge?
Nope, want to be on my jungle gym.
Ok, fine, on your jungle gym.
She cruised around, up and down, flipped her hides some time in the night, and eventually settled on her ledge by this morning. Silly snek. [emoji854]

What do you use for heat source?

UTH in the form of heat tape. IIRC 12" wide, so it covers about half the area.

She's a beauty! Love the setup you have for her to climb around on, too. Looks like Husky might have some jealousy issues. LOL He/She is gorgeous, too. Tell her (him?) I said so.

Will do. "Disapproving Dog" is one of his alternate names, I think that time he was impatient for bedtime cookies. [emoji4]

Cool. Wasn't sure how much time she spends up in the branch. I guess she still finds her way down to warm up.

She's been spending a fair amount of time on her ledge and jungle gym lately, and my JCP spent most of his time up off the floor when he was in that enclosure. I do keep the bedroom 72-75 F, and I believe the UTH does add to the ambient temps in the enclosure - the floor and substrate are warm, and convection warms the air.

Last night was derp night, apparently, after Bruce splashed down into his water with his rat, I tried feeding Wonambi. Got her out, offered the mouse, she refused. Warmed up the head. Nope. Made the nose ooze. Still nope. Told her fine, Kajura’s out begging.

Putting Wonambi back, and she decided she was going to be big skery snek and threaten to bite/eat me (really, tiny python!?). So I offered the mouse again. Wham! Strike and coil . . . while hanging by a single coil. And she *rarely* strikes.

Who are you, and what did you do with my snake?!

I am dying here, of embarrassment. This morning I noticed that Wonambi’s cage needed a quick spot-cleaning. I reached in, and WHAM, she was latched onto my knuckle and wrapped around my hand, demonstrating her constricting powers. A little cold water got her to let loose, and I meandered back into the bedroom. I was trying to put her back in the enclosure and she did it again! Tip of my ring finger.

Ow, ow ow ow, one tooth felt like it was on a nerve, and she was *not* letting go. She ignored alcohol hand sanitizer.

    https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c196664462.jpg

I woke my son up and told him I needed to be rescued from one of my smallest snakes. While waiting for him to get up I took the pictures in this post.

    https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5d7bc7002f.jpg

I was about to go back and tell my son “no, really, I’m not kidding” when he walked in. I requested a headless Q-tip, which he got for me, and I was able to pry Wonambi’s mouth open and get her disengaged from my finger. And then catch her up close to the head so we wouldn’t have round three!

    https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6a79fcf03c.jpg

The blood on my knuckle in the first picture is mostly water, if I were to take pictures of my knuckle and finger now I’m not sure you’d even be able to see the teeny-tiny punctures. But yes, I had to be rescued from a tiny python attack.

Thinking back, she’s actually struck at her food the last couple-few feedings. My guess is she decided I was breakfast...

Note to self, leave a couple headless Q-tips or bamboo skewers near the upstairs snake cages...

Really enjoying your photos & posts...I have a (granite phase) spotted python too, she's about 10 years old now, and an awesome snek....all the behaviors
of her larger cousins but with the ease of handling a small pet. No way I could hold mine ("Yiva") and feed her, her response to food is insane...she swings
around wildly & ends up biting anything in her way (including trying to bite the glass!) if she misses the rodent. I have a feeling that as yours is growing &
has a bigger appetite, she is starting to associate your hand with food, not really a good idea IMO, but hey, it's your hand. They are very strong constrictors-
hard to pry off, even without food involvement...you shoulda been there the day mine got "stuck" (her choice) in my long hair & wouldn't let go....:O But
at least she meant nothing by it, it wasn't a food response.

Like yours, mine loves to climb & bask on a driftwood branch in her cage, so I use both UTH under one of her hides, and a basking light (red) over-head.
She's very nocturnal, so I end up leaving the dimmed light on for her. She's also one of those snakes that you can't sneak up on...she's extremely aware
of me & anytime I walk by her cage, her face peeks out to see if it's dinner coming. These may be SMALL* snakes, but boring they aren't! About the size
of a young adult corn snake, but needing warmer (boid) temps. Mine has done very well being handled by strangers for a "meet & greet" too...good thing
they aren't seeing her feeding response.
