Decorative light
Hi.
Thinking of putting some decorative led lights in my BP terrarium to see my noodle better but not to stress him out. I have just an UTH, warm bulb not needed so its a bit dark in there! Have to use a flashlight to find poop! :)
I was reading that red, blue and green doesn't stress them out, but I wanted to check here first. Can someoje confirm are these colours safe??
Does it bother the snake to have this light on at night also?
Here is the photo of what I was thinking of buying - its for small spaces, behind the tv, in the drawer ect, so hopefully its not too bright for my exoterra large low?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...27380d3349.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ed5d0bfaea.jpg

Decorative light
Hello.
I was thinking of putting some decorative coloured led lights above BP terrarium. Its dark in there, want to see him better and to look nicer. I have just an UTH, it's warm at my home so bulb not needed.
I was reading that red, blue and green doesn't stress them out, but I wanted to check here first.
Are these colours safe for a ball python?? Which are?
Does it bother the snake to have this light on at night also?
Attached are the photos of lights Im thinking of buying. Is this ok?
Its for drawers and tv so not too bright I think.

I think it would depend on the brightness. BPs definitely prefer the dark. If it's subtle I say go for it, if it's bright I might see what else you can find. I've used blue and purple in the past and never observed any problems.

Re: Decorative light
I agree with Craigafrechette. Maybe put them on a cheap timer or make sure you shut them off at night if you're worried about stressing them out.

Re: Decorative light
I got the SLR ColorConnect ones off Amazon and they're pretty neat. They're a little pricey, but they fit my purpose. They have different length ones and you can change the color of them with the controller. You can also make custom colors and I've found that I can have way more control over the brightness and tone with the custom colors. I prefer to have it fairly dim during the day since they don't need light anyways. It's just bright enough to show good color and be blessed to read the thermometer. They're set on timer but I manually turn in at night and change to a dim red when I want to watch him cruise. I'll post up some photos when I get home from work.

Re: Decorative light
SLR ColorConnect LED light kit. One 12" strip on each back and side walls. I find that the he doesn't mind the red lights in the evening, so I normally manually switch it to red after lights out. But, he will feed with any color that I have tried with....

Re: Decorative light
Update I've been using it for a few nights and it seems like it's okay. At first there was weird behavior from my snake which is interesting because snake behavior is weird already lol but the light isn't too bright or anything at all.
