Favorite drink?
For me it has to be a good Margarita. I'm on the quest to create the perfect one (perfect to me).
I don't like overly sweet drinks. So today's test: Prickly Pear https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...60bc96a3cc.jpg Margarita. 100% agave silver Tequila, Contreau, fresh lime juice and prickly pear syrup. Shaken with Ice and strained on crushed ice.
Not bad [emoji4]

A tall glass, frozen in the freezer, half filled with ginger ale, half filled with slushy pink lemonade and topped off with a shot of vodka, with a straw.

sounds perfectly refreshing on a hot summers day :)

Lately my fav is a glass of Moscato when I'm just chilling or reading.

If you mean drinky drinks, I like sweet rieslings! And I put ice in wine when I'm at home. No wine snobs will ever find out. LOL
-
Single malt. Glenlivet, Glenfiddich... Any Glen will do.
Nice Palms in the background. Jack Daniels, if you please.

Favorite drink?
Southern Comfort & Coke is my drink.. but If I have to be good then I like Seagrams Wine Coolers [emoji484]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4e12664255.jpg

Re: Favorite drink?
Craft beer is my go to. IPA, saisons, stouts, I like it all. If I'm going the spirits route, bourbon all the way. Recent fave has been Angels Envy bourbon finished in port wine casks.

"Drinky drinks" LOL, love that...
Yes, I meant cocktail type of drinks. I really do not drink much at all, well lets say, I don't like to get drunk. But I do like a good drink here and there.
When it comes to wine, it has to be the deepest and darkest red there is. Strong and spicy. Not necessarily bone dry, just dark dark dark... My current favorite is "Phantom" by Bogle, omg..soooo good. Absolutely not see through, LOL
When it comes to Beer (which was an acquired taste for me) it also has to be rather dark. Definitely no light beer. I would rather drink water out of a puddle then that, LMAO!!! I like Killians, Amber Bock, Bit Burger, or darker. My current favorite is from a local Brewery and is by far the darkest, bitter coffee, bitter chocolate STOUT beer I've ever had. First sip I shook myself a littlebit but now...YUMM.
On the search for a really good Whiskey. Only time I have a sip is when I'm so cold I feel frozen to the bone (coming home from the barn in winter, when we actually have a winter, lol). Nothing warms you up more then that. But I am not very knowledgeable with Whiskey and want to learn about good Scottish ones.
I cannot CANNOT drink champagne. I swear, it bypasses the belly and instead goes straight upstairs. And that is NOT a good thing. Especially nowadays in the age of cellphones and youtube. No champagne for me..
Wine Coolers I can't really stand (sorry Sully) to many of them remind me of watered down cough syrup. The only ones I like are the clear ones that taste fresh or slightly sour. Or Caymens Margaritas.
I think now we covered all the drinky drinks?
More suggestions are welcome. I'll soon have a TON of family visiting , like every year, and I would like to try out more stuff to serve them when we sit together in the evening..

LOL. I sure would love to see your face at the very first sip, though, haha.
Even for me (who likes dark beer) it was WHOA! *shudder*
and then it got better. And better. Weird how that works, lol..
when it says "chocolate coffee porter" they aren't talking about Starbucks Mocha..haha.
Its the darkest and bitterest chocolate and Espresso. But it just works together. Its still somewhat smooth. I'm not much into "sweet" drinks. They mess me up, LOL.

White Russian is another drink I want to make for me and family. I already bought the Kahlua coffee liqueur and I have heavy whipping cream as well. I need to try it out. Just not tonight. That Margarita was strong and that's my limit, I don't want to log on tomorrow to find some gibberish I posted, LOL. I will try that one out tomorrow.
You should try that Folklore. At first I wasn't sure. Within a few sips it got better and better. I have to say that bottle lasted a loooong time. LOL. I liked it enough to buy 2 more bottles when I was stocking up for my family coming.

Just like me ;) I only like the "clear" drinks in the bottles, like Smirnoff Ice. Nothing colored or flavored.

Mint julep while the sun is up, Manhattan when the sun goes down; Knob Creek, if available, preferred for both, although i'm always happy to experiment with a new interesting bottle.
Once upon a time I didn't even like bourbon, then I started dating and eventually married a girl from Kentucky...

I have some family in Kentucky. That's where I was introduced to moonshine. LOL
Apple Pie Moonshine was my favorite. And luckily I didn't end up blind..;)

Zina, if you're on the search for the perfect margarita and not too sweet, try replacing your Cintreau with Grand Marnier. Cointreau is nothing more than over-priced triple sec. Grand Marnier is an orange flavored liqueur, but not nearly as sweet as Cointreau.
I spent 14 years behind a bar, 10 of which were at an upscale, private country club where I was the bar manager for 4 years. I would try that switch to start, it will cut the sweetness. Then play with different flavors and mixers to find your perfect margarita!
-
Personally I cannot stand the taste of alcohol. So when I do feel like "self medicating" it's either wine or a fruity mixed drink. Usually with Vodka since it just takes on the flavor of whatever it is in.
-
Re: Favorite drink?
The only time I refused a drink I misunderstood the question…love it all… beer, vodka, tequila, whiskey/bourbon, wine… my Harley is arolling advertisement for Jack Daniels (a lot of Old No.7 parts).
Zina, my perfect margarita has a salted rim, clear ice, a fewshots of Don Julio Anejo, and a squeeze of fresh lime (lime optional)
-
Re: Favorite drink?
Single Malt. I like Macallan a lot, or Glenlivet. I also like the Islays. Neat.

Whiskey. Most any kind, I'm not picky. Prefer McClelland or Lagavulin from the isles, Johnny and Jamison as well. I'll take Jack for the American side.

Oh, someone with experience !!!!
Let me pick your brain :)
I've always liked Margaritas. Because they aren't so sickly sweet like some fruity drinks. That said, I do like them balanced, so not overly sour or bitter, either. Hard to explain..
In Restaurants its often a hit and miss, but every so often, one tastes great. Which lead me to try my hand at making them myself.
So far I've done a lot "wrong". LOL. Bought "Jose Cuervo" only to find out that is a no-no. Not 100% Agave. So then I bought Patron silver only to find people think its not the best, jeesh, but I'm using it.
I had Tripple Sec. That actually went into the Garbage and I bought Grand Marnier AND Contreau, since a lot of people say Contreau is great. But some recipes call for Grand Marnier.
Then I've been playing with the "percentages". Only to find out, holy cow, all of them way stronger then what is served at Restaurant bars !!
Yesertday I tried the 3-2-1 method. 3 parts Patron, 2 Contreau, 1 lime. Only I tweaked it some as I went along and it ended up being 3 Patron, 2 Contreau 1 1/2 lime, 1 cold water (i know..) 3/4 (ounce jiggers) of the syrup and actually 1/2 simple syrup, because it didn't seem balanced. It was not "sweet" when done, seemed pretty good actually. But gosh does it pack a punch!!
I do shake with ice and then strain.
So what do I do wrong? I mean, it was great actually, but is there a way to cut the alcohol just a bit while still not messing with the greatness and taste? Or just make it authentic and stick with 1. And drink it slowly. LOL.
-
My favourite drinks are ciders, pref. ones from my county of Somerset :D I do like the odd Kopperberg though. As for cocktails, Long island ice tea is a favourite, along with mojitos (A pub chain here did raspberry mojitos for a while, and they were AMAZING but they took them off the menu :(). I do also like plain old vodka (Still at an age where I can stomach the cheap stuff!) mixed with lemonade. And also I'm a sucker for apple pie bombs (A shot of apple Sourz in Redbull).
Can you tell I'm a student lol :D:D

Re: Favorite drink?
I'm a fan of the cheap white wines, typically a riesling, but I'll try a pino here and there in the evenings to relax after work.
Bud Light is my go to beer - for those back-country evenings by the bonfire...
Frozen margaritas or pina coladas for those sunny days at the beach...
And my favorite liquor is straight Patron Silver when I want to go hard. Those days don't happen much any more though :)
-
Re: Favorite drink?
I rarely drink alcohol but when I do I keep it really simple. Tequila on the rocks please. Preferably Patron or Don Julio. If that's not available then I'll have a Bombay Sapphire gin sour.
-
Depends on the mood.
A good doppelbock or some nice scotch. Cigar is mandatory.
-
Re: Favorite drink?
My favorite "adult beverage" has to be a whiskey sour. Old Grandad Whiskey 80 proof ( the 100 proof is way too acidic). :D

Hahaha, you're not doing anything wrong at all. You're just finding what you like.
One thing I always made sure of was to shake extremely vigorously. Doing this will create a froth while also cutting the alcohol down a bit. I think this will help you achieve the balance you're looking for. You know you've shaken it enough when you get that foamy look on top. Since you're shaking and straining and drinking it straight up you're not going to get any dilution from the ice, so a good shake will serve the same purpose.
As far as the tequila is concerned, honestly, as long as you're not buying rot-gut you'll be fine. I always preferred Cabo Wabo myself, but Patron Silver is great too. Just stay away from Jose, Jose knock-offs and the cheapo selections and you'll be fine. Once it's mixed in a margarita you won't be able to tell the difference between one and another as long as it's not the cheap stuff. Shaking vigorously will break down any impurities and balance it out with the other ingredients anyway. I used to have people who were adamant about top-shelf. I would make them a top-shelf margarita and another margarita using a different tequila (exact same recipe, different tequila) that's more affordable, nobody could tell the difference. If you're shooting it or sipping it, that's a horse of a different color.
I think shaking well and finding your flavor combos will get you exactly what you're looking for. Just in time for summer!! :)

I like to keep it simple with Vodka and Cranberry Juice - either Absolut or Skyy

Re: Favorite drink?
Not much of a beer person. I prefer the hard stuff. My favorites are a gin martini, dirty, preferably Hendricks but Bombay Sapphire will do as well. A good single malt scotch, neat. My daughter was in Scotland for a wedding and brought me back a bottle of Balblair 99 which was really nice. For tequila I found one I prefer over Patron and that's Maestro Dobel Diamante. It is a great tequila to drink straight and I don't mean doing shots. I mean actually sipping like you would a good glass of scotch.

A strawberry and rhubarb daiquiri is my go to, especialy when we have fresh strawberries and rhubarb 'n you just add a little more sugar(I cant have alcohol but still good would recomend 10/10)

Re: Favorite drink?
Hmm... that's a tough one... I probably just haven't tried enough drinks to have a tried and true favourite...
I'm pretty boring haha I mostly drink beer, Heineken is probably my favourite, and rum and coke. Somewhat recently one of my buddies got me onto honey jack. That stuff is pretty damn good lol

Re: Favorite drink?
I like a good Jack and Coke and or Wild Turkey 101.
-
Re: Favorite drink?
Rarely if ever do I drink. If I do it's a shot of a good silver tequila in an iced shot glass with a bit of lime or lemon. Followed by curling up on the couch. One shot tends to do me in. Not really a beer or FMB(flavored malt beverage) drinker even though I sell it for a living [emoji23]

'Nother wine drinker here :D It's between a dry Riesling and a not-too-heavy Merlot. But sometimes also a good whiskey or I'll try random stuff off the cocktail menu. Especially if it's something kinda weird or dessert-oriented.
