    I am likin' his pattern!
"Reduced" means simply, few or no black dots in the brown areas, as well as large "stretches" of brown instead of "alien head" shaped areas on normal BPs.

Now is a reduced pattern worth more than a normal bp. The only reason i ask is because I plan on breeding in a year or two and my bp is a reduced pattern.

Sean he's gorgeous or handsome LOL if that's more appropriate for a male snake! Glad to read that his first feed with you went so well.

How do you genetically prove it without a breeding history? I think mine is a reduced pattern and I plan on breeding in a year or two. I got my snake from petco so I am currently unsure of the sex and age. And please no comments about petco mine is in an acceptable condition.

Unless it came from a breeder selling it as a reduced pattern that can show you the parents than the only way to prove it is thru breeding. Not slamming petco, but they get there snakes from a distributor who gets them from a importer or imports them, so the only way to prove it will be thru breeding.

and I would be willing to bet that the petco bp is a male too. Normal CH imports are really cheap compared to others, so when they are sold the profit is higher. My male came from Petco and I have never had any problems....but I have heard the complete opposite from other people...oh well

Not slamming Petco myself either, but knowing what I know now, and after my experience with Kashmire having parasites when I tried to go the "bargain BP" route with a different distributor, my next BP, even if "just" a normal will be from a certain breeder we all know and love! ;)

At the same time, I would not trade Kashmire in for the world. That's my firstborn - snake that is! LOL

I will say, however, that it appears that the PetCo near me really lucked out with the woman who cares for their reptiles. She seems to genuinely care about the animals and spent quite some time on the phone answering questions for me before I purchased Kashmire (I had considered getting in on their "deal" back when they were $29 - but they were sold out), and from what I've learned here since then, her knowledge was pretty spot on with advice I get here. The ones that they have there "appear" to be healthy, and the last time I was there to pick up Kashmire's last meal, the two they had were nice and plump and one was in shed.

Someone had asked to hold the one in shed while I was there and she refused and said that she also would not sell him until after his shed was complete, because she didn't want to stress him.

    Anyway, enough of my ramblings!

Well that was refreshing to read Robin. I'm sure even tho Petco doesn't have the best reputation, they must have some employees who genuinely love the snakes, etc. and try to do their best by them and the customers.

She sounds like a great employee. If I was you I'd write an email to her boss or something. People like that need to be recognized for going that extra mile for the welfare of the store stock.

Yeah, Reduced-patterned snakes should definately be proven out to see if they're genetic! My particular female was sold by her breeder as having a "nice reduced pattern." I can't wait to prove her out (aren't I optimistic?) :)
