Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
At the beginning of the month I received my very first ball python. He is a banana pastave that I got from Garrick at royal constrictor designs. His hatch date was 12/9/16. When I got him he was 87g, and today I weighed him before his 3rd feeding, and now he is 100g. I currently have him on F/T hopper mice, and he has had zero problems eating so far. Well, except today he accidentally ate a piece of reptibark :hmm:. Here are 3 pictures of him that I got before recieving him from Garrick, and 3 other cell phone photos of him since I've had him. I apologize for the quality, I am no photographer. Any chance you guys could help with some name suggestions?

Congrats. Always a huge plus when they readily eat frozen thaw.

Hey congrats again!!! Great to hear your little guy is doing well! Did he seem fine after eating a bit of Reptibark? I heard placing feeders over a paper towel can help with that. Also awesome your little noodle is f/t ready! I think Garrick starts them on f/t correct?
As for names, here are the ones that come to mind;
Sundae, Sinbad, Cecil, Charlie, Sir Hiss, Toffee, Thor, Henryk (or Henry), Creme Brulee and Pancake.

When he had it in his mouth after he got the hopper down, he bit down real hard, and I heard a crunching sound. Hopefully it was the reptibark and not his little teeth. Other than that he seems completely fine. Got the piece of bark sorted out and went straight into his hide. A few hours later I noticed him peeking out of his hide and he still looked fine. Im fairly certain that he wont have any issues. Next time ill feed him away from his water bowl. He missed the hopper on his first strike and ended up taking a dive into his water bowl. I guess that stressed him out and he just balled up and looked like he was scared after that. I held the hopper over the heat lamp for a min to give him a break and to keep the mouse warm. Then offered it again and he took it.... But he "killed" it in his water bowl, so that made it wet and helped the reptibark stick.
As far as Garrick feeding live or F/T, I am not certain. I read somewhere on his site that he use to feed F/T but now does live because its easier for the quantity of snakes he has. But I don't know if that means he starts them off on live.

Thank you!
Garrick just posted a video on youtube today discussing noobs buying snakes and wanting hatclings. He goes on to say he starts his baby snakes on live crawler or hopper mice for the first couple feeds. He says they start off timid eaters and after the first few meals they become veracious feeders, and at that point he starts feeding F/T. So it makes sense as to why snakes from him are eating F/T so effortlessly.

I also like food names. For a male banana, i'd go with Foster, or maybe Daiq (short for Daiquiri, pronounced "Dack"). What about Galliano?

Hmmmm, I have no idea why I have been struggling so hard with a name. I've been calling him banana, but how many banana BPs are named banana? My guess is a LOT! I was gonna name him stitch because my GF loves Disney movies, and stitch is one of my favorite Disney characters, but IDK. I appreciate the ideas! I think im gonna give it till his next feeding to make a decision.

My little guy is going into shed! I checked on him to make sure he was alive, and his eyes were cloudy. I added some moss to the tank and some in his favorite hide, and sprayed the tank down really well. This is his first shed with me, and I'm excited. I think I'll miss when it happens tho because I'll be out of town Wednesday-Saturday.

Odd question but how big was the deli cup your noodle baby came in? If you're willing could you tell me the dimensions of the cup and if your boy still fits in it? I'm trying to make a custom hide so getting size ref helps!
-
I have throw the tub away, but I have the scale. You can see the scale in comparison to the deli cup in one of the pictures. I also have a picture of just him on the scale that I can post later. It looks like he would fit...... snugly in the cup.

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Well he took his 4th hopper while in shed. He actually took it faster than he ever took food. I said I'd name him by his next feed, and the girlfriend has spoke. He is officially Stitch! Lol https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d2ee6c02fe.jpg

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Well, he shed and the weather is nice, so I got him outside for some natural light pictures. Sorry, still cell phone quality. His shed went well except there is about a 3in strip along his neck that is still stuck. I'm keeping the humidity up and hoping it'll come off when it's ready. If not then I'll probably leave it till next shed. Here are some pictures before he gets fed today!

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Today was feeding day! 7th since I've had him. He will be 5 months old tomorrow! Lol. 128g before eating a 14g medium size mouse.
I have been confused thinking I've been feeding him too small of mice because the brand of frozen mice I was getting from petco labels their 12-14g mice hoppers and the brand I got this time from petsmart labels their same size mice as medium mice. I've been told I shouldn't still be feeding him hoppers, but I've been feeding about 10% of his body weight. He does have an intense feeding response. Maybe he is ready for adult mice next!

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Beautiful little noodle. To be honest I have never fed my noodles mice. I have always started them in rats. I read somewhere that rats are much more beneficial to their health.

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
I don't know of anywhere locally that sells small enough rats. I'd have to order them, and it's just easier to to get mice locally. I've heard that asf rats are even better than regular rats. Once full grown and he will only need one size for the rest of his life, I'll probably buy some feeders online in bulk.

Same thing here. I had to find a reptile shop in my area. Once I found one, I found my food source. But buying in bulk would be a great idea as well.

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Congrats on your newbie! I absolutely love the banana morphs. I myself have a male Pastel Banana that I just got 3 weeks ago. He is around 6 months and an absolute gem. I also got a male Queenbee that's around 1.5 years old and he is gorgeous too... Love those blue-gray eyes!

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Stitch is up to 160g and is now on adult mice. He is a solid eater and he appears to be doing well!

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
Stitch is now a little under 400g. I don't think his colors have changed since I've had him at all. He has gotten a couple more freckles. But they're not like normal banana freckles. They seem to be a little lighter. I tried to get some good updated pictures of Stitch, but he never cooperates. This is the best I could do lol.

Re: Some name suggestions for a new banana pastave!
I have been doing a terrible job with updates on Stitch. Today he got his first small rat. Before eating he is at 450g. He is a pain to take pictures of because he never stays still. Here are some of the most recent pictures I got just trying to get a good look at his colors.

On top of looking fantastic, he is also a great snake! He has never refused food. Even when in shed. He is never defensive or aggressive. He is never tense or overly stressed when being handled. He is amazing! I cannot wait for him and my super lesser(pos pastel, GHI, and or spider) girl to be fully grown, so I can breed them, and see what kinda babies they can produce!

I named my 2 BP and bearded dragon girls after the gorgon sisters from Greek mythology: medusa, euryale and stheno. My boy toads are named caligula, heracles and takeshi.

I have been doin. A terrible job of keeping this thread updated, but here is a picture of stitch before weighing and feeding him. He is 570g, and his colors are still looking great in my opinion. I don’t think he has faded a bit since getting him at 90g

I really wish the camers did him justice. His yellows look like a highlighter in natural light, and the purple areas are a little more defined. But, I guess cameras dont really do any morphs justice. Except maybe BELs lol.

When he was around 100g, it seemed like he gained weight so slowly. Then out of nowhere he was 500g, and eating small rats. Then it seemed like another week went by and he is getting close to 1000g lol. Maybe I am biased, or maybe I am speaking too soon, but I dont think his colors have faded or gotten darker as he grew. I think his colors look just as good as they did when he was 80g the day I got him.
