Goldie Progression (Hypo Pastel Enchi Female)
Hello - this is my first day of BP parenting! Introducing Goldie, a female Hypo Pastel Enchi from Garrick at Royal Constrictor Designs.

Goldie arrived this morning, and has already been a curious lady. She also may be arboreal! (kidding I hope).

She has explored her tank and settled on a "hide" that I did not anticipate. She has climbed up the plants I have and has parked herself at the top of the cage on a vine for a nap! I have already seen her yawn, drink water, and explore and she has been very calm. I will chronicle her growth in this thread.

Thanks to everyone who provided input on setup and calibration, and to Garrick for outstanding customer service. Introducing the new family pet!:D

Thanks all! She is officially a tree BP. :O

She found a dark corner at the top of the enclosure and she is coiled on the plant and thermostat wire, just lounging, off the ground, for going on four hours.

Kids coming home soon so they will get to meet her through glass for the first time! Can't wait. (I took video of unboxing and handling when I unpacked her so they can get a taste of her up close without actually getting up close.) They know we need to give her time to acclimate.

And she just took a hopper mouse! She hadn't eaten in over a week and Garrick said to go for it - she took it pretty quickly! She is off to a roaring start! (She remains in her perch, and took the mouse from on high!)

Goldie is settling in very well! After her first feed, she has been sleeping all day in her warm side hide, and then at night, coming out and going bonkers exploring while we are asleep. She will be 48 hours out from her first feed tonight, so she should get her first tank inspection for poo, post feed substrate refresh, water change/bowl clean.

One of the cool things we did in our room was move one of our Nest Cams into the room, and park it in front of her cage so we can learn her behavior patterns without harassing her! Particularly fun at night with the night vision camera! Here is a clip of her at night, in a timelapse. This covers from roughly 11pm through 3am. She seems to really wake up as soon as the room is completely dark around 8:30pm, and then settle in around 3am.

I love the vine setup you have. I think my girl would like something like that, she's a bit of a climber too

Goldie is a crazy climber at night! She also found the space above the sliding doors between the cage opening (which is actually taped shut from the outside) and loves to disappear on the left side, transverse the ledge above the glass, and then magically reappear on the right side. She is also using the plants as her hide since the back corner is closed off, and she can really just curl up in the warm corner out of sight. I glued the plants into the top corners of the back with the aquarium silicone that came with the cage and it is holding up to her so far. Who knows if it will when she gets heavier though!

Dinner! Second feeding went very well. We are feeding the hoppers which are probably too small for her, so doing a modified every 4 days one mouse schedule. Once we have mowed through our stash of 50 mice, I will obviously purchase more appropriately sized prey.

She hides all day explores at night. We pre-scented her room with the thawing mouse, and then preheated it under the CHE dome light. Goldie loves that space now since it is warm and always smells like mouse! She took about 45 seconds of waking up, tongue flicking before the strike. Another aggressive hungry strike. We handled her two days ago and she was a sweetheart to my wife and two small boys. Off to a fantastic start.

Beautiful girl, though I am probably biased since I too have an Enchi Pastel girl. What kind of enclosure is that?

Showcase Cage. She seems to like it! It definitely needs some tweaking to get right for a BP and it will only last until she gets bigger. (Got the smallest size.)

That's a beauty girl you have too - they could be sisters!

She has been great with my boys! Taking it short and slow. Youngest has to sit on his hands. He struggles to not try and pet her! But they are helping and learning!

I'm 90% sure we are in shed! I noticed a pinkish belly about 5 days ago and she has gone into total isolation mode. No night exploring just chilling in her hot hide with occasional peeks for a drink. Ate two days ago but had an awkward strike! I'll be watching from afar and leaving her be. More pics to come!

We did indeed have her first shed! It was halfway successful! It looks like towards the end of her shed cycle humidity dropped a bit too low, and she had a one piece shed...from the last half of her body! We gave her a big humidity bump, and after an overnight in a nice 70% she had gotten most of the rest of it off on her own. The next day we did a warm soak, and she is now almost entirely free but does have a patch of stuck shed on her neck. As of now, we will probably just leave it as it is smaller, and we will make sure her next shed cycle is consistently more humid that this past one.

During shed she went from pink belly, to clouded eyes, to day after day of hiding endlessly. She wouldnt come out except for an occasional sip of water. And then one night she just sort of woke up! On the overnight camera, she hadn't done anything for days, then one night, round and round she went.

After shed she was voracious, and took two small hoppers. She continues to feed great!

Had a nice outdoor photo shoot last weekend with my son holding her! Shows off her colors a bit better (highlighting why she is named as she is!). Amazing snake and is thriving thanks to all of the great information and help from members here!

Successfully switched her to rat tonight! She was a tad apprehensive but is clearly an enthusiastic feeder. After striking her head and rat ended up submerged in her bowl. I watched, waited, and then reached in and took her out. She dropped the rat and looked at me like I was the hand of god. I distracted her, grabbed the wet rat, reheated it, and she nailed it a second time!

Down the hatch it went. Excited that she took to rat so quickly. She has been eating multiple hoppers at a time and still seems hungry. I suspect my Goldie will be a big girl if the appetite continues. But it's only been 2 months!

Age is a beautiful combo for sure!

for future reference, once she strikes her food, just leave her to eat it unless she lets go on her own and is completely ignoring it, then she may not take it again anyway. But my point is, it's not worth potentially stressing her at feeding time and causeing her to have any unwanted feeding issues, you can just let her figure it out. The water dish is no issue at all. I've actually had mine eat under water before. They will figure it out but if you intervene you can do more harm than good.

Good luck with your new little girl. It looks like your doing a great job with her so far.

Thanks! The poor girl is brutally deep in shed. She is a no question, screamingly obvious shedder. She looks like someone spray painted her with watered down elmers glue. She hides all day and night versus her normal evening hunting jaunt. Helps to have the camera on her 24x7 to watch. I put it there to temporarily monitor her but I'll tell you what. It's been invaluable to learn! Both learning my girl and watching temp and humidity.

The new house is coming! Got an email from AP that the T-10 is shipping late this week or early next! Goldie is roughly 560g now and growing well, approaching her first birthday! We just had a rat delivery too so hopefully she likes her new house when it is up and running - we have plenty of food for her!

Re: Goldie Progression (Hypo Pastel Enchi Female)
Thank you!! The T-10 is here, assembled, and calibrating. A question for you T-10 owners with RHP installed along with a basking shelf. When I run the RHP to my ideal settings, I am getting very stable ideal temps in a gradient from warm to cool side. The only exception to this is the edge of the basking shelf. It is routinely up around 102F as it is sitting just a few inches below a portion of the RHP. The substrate below and the rear of the ledge is ideal at 89-91f, and the cool side is 79-81. I know the ground in nature can get to 102, so am not too concerned but should I be? When I bump the temps down on the RHP to lower that one hot spot, the cool side drops a bit below what I am comfortable with. Any thoughts before I move her in? Thanks!!

Success in the T10 so far! Two successful feeds since making the switch and we had her first birthday! She is just shy of 600g empty and just hit her hatch date. She’s as sweet as can be and tolerates the kiddos routinely.
