Rescue Ball Python - Classic or Fire or something else?
    Hello All,

I acquired this male Ball Python as a rescue animal about 8 months ago. The previous owner wasn't knowledgeable at all and couldn't provide me with its morph info. The animal had a severe fracture on its lower jaw and also had a bad mouth infection. I have since had its infection completely cured and its lower chin is looking almost normal with a minor bump. He is doing and eating and shedding perfectly.

TLDR; what is the morph of this Ball Python?

    Thanks in advance.

Well you probably know that you can get some really bright normals but that one takes the biscuit if it is a normal :)

My guess would be a Fire .

Come on guys. I'm curious about this one. I am adding fire to my collection as we speak and I need to learn how to identify these guys. I do not see fire in this animal by looking at my single example. The blacks look too black and the head blushing seems off to be fire, but I don't think it is a normal. Those of you that work with fire please let me know why my guess is ??wrong??.

I'd be leaning more towards a really bright normal. I don't see the classic fire headstamp in that animal, at least not in that pic.

In my amateur opinion, I don't see fire. The blushing on the head just doesn't seem to be there.

Thanks guys. At least I am not on crack with it not being fire. It is extremely bright, reduced pattern, nice blushing on the back, and a little banding. I would love to see the belly on that animal. Even if it is a normal it is an animal I would like to own.

Agreed, I have a normal girl who looks kind of like this one and I have no desire to sell her ever... Gotta love a nice normal girl.

Thank you for all the posts. Here is a pic of when I first brought him home, poor guy. You can see the head pattern better here maybe?

Wow, he's beautiful! I agree with the others, no fire there, but wow he sure is bright. Gorgeous animal, he's lucky to have found you!

EDIT: not to derail the post, but I'm curious if you know how he got that severely fractured jaw, and how you went about fixing that? Surgery? Or have you let it heal on its own after taking care of the infection?

Thanks a lot, I always try to do my best with all animals.

I applied some antibiotics for about a week and kept a close eye on the infection. I let the animal heal itself after taking care of the infection. Unfortunately, we don't have real reptile vets here in Turkey, so I did what I could and hoped for the best. He has healed almost completely and eats and sheds perfectly, thankfully.
