Awee, Sandor is so cute with his adorable little googly eyes hehe

I'm soo in love with blood pythons, for now I'll research and admire from adorable pictures and videos, but perhaps in a few years I'll be experienced enough to own one of these beauties.

    Thank you :)

If you find a good breeder they will help you pick out a exceptionally sweet tempered young one, one that has already been handled some and is good with it, you are good to go. One that also feeds well. There are more like that out there, then there are nasty ones. Since so many are captive bred nowadays. You have nervous babies because many breeders do not have time to handle, or they want to make sure they eat well before doing so. But that goes for any snakes, babies are usually defensive.

If you go with the right breeder and pick the right animal you could do it no problem. You have to learn the correct husbandry, but it is nothing that is complicated. You keep them cooler then Ball Pythons, higher humidity but well ventilated. The key is to get a nicely established young one, preferably one that is non chalant to handling :)

Don't they have the cutest googly eyes ?

Here is a video of one of my fav. morphs. The light color really makes those googly eyes pop :)

Sandor is a very handsome critter Zina. He seems pretty mellow too in the pics.

That is a Blood Python. Color morph is called "007"
There are quite a few diff. color morphs in Blood Pythons now..

Isn't that one a Beauty, though :) And such a sweetie. Once they are "tame" and calm, they make the best couch buddies. They are curious, not head shy, and like to "hang out" ;)

He is def. not an aggressive one. He is still un-sure. But I make sure not to push it to far, to fast. He is certainly smart, he knows the room his tub is in, once we enter it, he starts looking and moving into the direction the tub is at.
Normally once in the tub he will slowly slither back under his newspaper and into the hide. Today he just hung out in the open a bit, looking around calmly for quite a while. Getting a bit more confident :)

They're fun little things, aren't they. Inquisitive, but don't want to leave their comfort zone. And yours is a beaut! I bet he'll look amazing as an adult. Id love to add a bright red like that someday.

I also call my snake 'fatty'. And my dog. And my boyfriend, who is super slender. I don't think it means what it actually means to me anymore.

He's such a looker and your comment about the cutest googly eyes-so much yes! I was thinking the same thing today looking at my baby. The 007s and magpies have been growing on me, I'm usually not at all into white or light snakes but I've seen a few pink-ish adults that are very attractive.

Gorgeous! Blood pythons are definitely on my list if I can ever "live the dream" absolutely beautiful animals. Those red are pretty much unmatched in the python world as far as I've seen.

I'm exactly the same way. Pattern-less or to light usually bores me. I just find the heads on the Golden eyes , 007 and Magpies so gorgeous. Probably because those cute googly eyes really pop! I don't know, but there is something about them. I definitely like them with more pattern though.

I just LOVE the contrast and pattern. And those eyes :)

Blood Pythons are just as addictive as Ball Pythons.

I think Sandor is going to end up a lap snake, LOL. He just likes to sit and watch the scenery. :)

He looks great, Zina! I still say he looks HUGE for a 2016. He looks every bit as big as my 2015 Matrix girl and waaaay bigger than my 2016 Sumatrans!

Wow! Somehow I missed this thread. This is the prettiest blood I have ever seen. Wife told me no new species in the house, but for that one I'd be willing to sleep on the couch for a week.

He DOES look chunky in the pictures. However, to me he looks so small in person, LOL. Gosh, my younger Ball Pythons is heavier then he is. 322 gr. seems so small to me for a 9 month old snake. Esp. since he was still on 1 rat pup per week. I just bumped him to a weaned per week, so far he had 1, but today is feeding day, hope he will take it again, will only be his second FT meal :)

I'd sleep on the couch for 6 month for that snake !!!!

But I don't think that one is for sale. There are other similar ones, but I think that one is perfect with the even and pretty pattern and the gorgeous head and eyes :)

    Thank you, all :)

I'm happy to report that Sandor just took his second FT meal like a champion. He was fed live pups at the breeder, I gave him 1 live pup (barely past fuzzy, though) a few days after I got him. His next feeding was a FT weanling and he took that well.
Add to that the one from today ;) I can safely say he is eating well and had no problem switching to FT :)

What a good lil fattie :)

Sandor and I watched some TV last night. The last 2 times he got brave after about 20 minutes or so. Before he would just sit still. He wasn't aggressive or defensive, just sitting still. As long as I sat down ;)

Yesterday he started exploring a bit after 20 minutes. Never went far, but didn't act worried or stressed.

Picking him up out of the cage is a non issue now, don't even get a hiss or huff and puff. He comes out of the cage easy, and I always return him slow and easy too, allow him to slither off my hands in his own time. Which he does nice and easy.

His googly eyes still watch me, but now it is a curious and relaxed watch, not the stiff, big eyed "i'm gonna eat you if you come any closer" watch, haha.

He is such a nice fattie :)
