F/T feeder, feed in the enclosure, use long tongs so you don't get bit.
Also many snakes don't like the feeder to be over the head, they'll strike faster if you use the tongs to "zombie dance" the feeder on the ground up to them.

Re: Best way to feed a boa?
For what it's worth I feed both mine in their vivs, I put card down so to minimise any ingestion of the substrate . My two Boas ( one adult , one youngster ) are both happy to DROP feed where you just leave the thawed mouse / rat on the card for them to get themselves ..

If you are asking can you hold your snake while you feed him. NO unless you like getting bit or worse. Plus it will really stress him out.

So very true , most snakes especially the ones with a good feeding response can get very unpredictable when there's food on offer ....

You can try and hold my retic in your arms while waving a rat around. Heck I'd almost pay to see that hahaha.

Same with my Burm , Retic and all the Kings :)

I would NOT recommend feeding the snake while holding it. HOWEVER,,,,, early on my coastal carpet would oddly, eat more comfortably when I had her in my hand. She would open her mouth and take a small fuzzy rat.
She was and still is a very, very bizarre eater. She was tiny back then, but now I only use tongs and feed from a distance.
Boas don't ever seem to run into feeding issues and are rather voracious eaters. Risking bite isn't worth it IMO.
Safe practices are most important in the end. 99% of all bites are human error.
The recommended, tried and true, practiced techniques are the best ones to follow.

lol This is the Burmese Corn Snake guy right?

You got it. He's at the right place. However He's over his head with a burm with the little experience that he has. I hope we can help him so he nor his burm get's hurt.

I'll chip in !!
although, that is kinda mean.
I would also not advise that with a Blood python. For such fat snakes, they are fury on scales and they hit HARD and fast.

Re: Best way to feed a boa?
I've got a strange eater a lot like Gio's, *but* she's a 58-gram almost 2-year-old Spotted Python, so even full-grown a feeding strike won't be too bad.
My husband's juvenile RTB you *definitely* use tongs, dangle at the entrance to the hide, and half the time I still jump when he slams it. No way you want any feeding accidents with him!

I hate strike feeding ... I think I've got a short attention span so I get distracted and suddenly BAM !!!
Scares the life out of when I do it for my Royals ..

Re: Best way to feed a boa?
We've got several strike feeders, so I should be used to it, but the RTB is the only one who strikes from hiding - the others do it from out in the open so it isn't quiiiite so much of a surprise.
