Heat tape suppliers?
So I'm actually picking up the supplies this weekend to build my snake rack. Which I'm thinking probably around 6'L x 4'H so of course naturally I'm looking at flexwatt/heat tape whatever it's called. And just looking around I noticed every time I look at the reptile basics page they out of stock the past 2 weeks. Is it worth waiting for them to restock at less than $3/ft or is anywhere close to the same price? I've seen others but come in around $5-$7/ft

RBI sells THG heat tape. the Bean farm carries the Flexwatt brand and the 4inch heat tape u want is $2.40/ft or $14.40 for the 6feet u want. Bean farm are good folks, they are kinda local to me and i see them at all the expos. :gj:

They also have the connectors to go to each level instead of 4 separate outlets? I'll get on both and look at stuff. I've heard a few things about the bean farm so they must be a popular choice

Re: Heat tape suppliers?
I just found and used the Serpentarium because RB was out of heat tape.

Very happy with their service. They will wire it up too if you request just like RB.

these things?

they sell those connectors, clip sets, wires and pre-wired clip sets. i parrallel wired my rack myself and they sent me instructions (or u could download them on their website; or watch youtube vids.). i took the challenge to do it, it was fun and satisfying. i didn't even need a crimping tool, just a vise grip. i u don't wanna run separate pieces of heat tape, u can just run one long 6feet piece of tape connected to 1 wired cord.
Edit: also both RBI and Bean Farm even sell pre-wired long strips of Ultratherm heat pads, but those can be pricier.

Re: Heat tape suppliers?
I'll add - Serpentarium sells the same tape as Reptile Basics (the THG tape). In fact, that's how I found them, they were listed as a vendor on the THG website.

Heat tape suppliers?
Oh wow I'm an idiot lol I've had the 6" up and I just look once every couple days and refresh on rb. Sorry lol I'll look around at all of these sites and see I have plenty of time I'm not actually building probably for a couple weeks just picking up melamine and 2x4 this weekend. Thank you all for the responses. I would rather get all separate pieces and connect them myself with the connectors that ax posted. I don't feel like seeing heat tape wrapped around the outside of the rack or trying to snake through each layer. But I also don't want to have to use another extension cord just to run all layers of the rack. Awesome advice and plenty of places to look around at! Thank you everybody.
Now does it really matter if I order 4 separate 6 foot pieces or can I order say 24 foot and cut it? I've seen a few places that show how to cut it when needed but looking for advice either way

Wow I've looked through a couple of these sites and so far the bean farm is really catching my eye...they have everything you could think of needing all in one place. Of course I'm gonna keep browsing but if I choose the bean farm might as well get some Pam and various other things while I'm at it for lower shipping costs
