Hi I am new to ball-pythons.net and I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Jacob and I live in Massachusetts. I have been interested in snakes all my life. Right now i have a 1 year old garter snake and and 2 year old ball python.

Well actually to clarify, being from Canada originally, I do believe my family was ever-so-nicely *cough* referred to as "those hicks that live down the road".

Maybe being called a redneck is an actual step up in life...whoohoooo!

I am not exactly your run of the mill redneck either. I have all of the qualifications, Grew up on a farm, have always drove a truck, used to chiew tobacco, did listen to country music, ect. Somewhere in the good old thing called life I got mixed up. I still drive my truck, but I have not listened to country in about 10 years, I found myself jamming to old Metallica, Pantera, Sepeltura, Opeth, Godsmack, Lincon Park, and the list goes on and on. I havent dauned my old trusty Stetson in about a decade as well. No more boots, what is this world comming to.

However non redneck I may be now-a-days, I can't seem to stay out of the woods or off of the water. Go figure. And of course my boss (Wife) is a Cali girl, straight from good old sunny San Diego. How that happened, I will never know, but I am glad it did.

Ain't life funny......:)

Speakin of the Red of Neck.. what are the qualifications, exactly, for being a redneck? Technically I am not, since my hair is long and I never get sunburn on my neck; But I do have the farmer's tan (pasty-white legs from wearin jeans due to ATV/horse/lawnmower ridin with DARK tan from the shirtsleeve area to hands.) I grew up in the city but always loved goin out to visit/stay with relatives in the country; it's where I belonged.
I come from a long line of hunters/beer drinkers, though I prefer Southern Comfort myself. I do have a horse though (she was a rescue) so I guess that if you own at least one piece of livestock, you are a redneck!

Hmm well I don't know but I think Ray will lose his membership if he doesn't get back to some good ole country music LOL. I'll send you some spare Garth Brooks cd's I have if it will save you Ray!

Now things that make me and mine qualify as rednecks:

1) Listening to Jeff Foxworthy jokes and thinking..."what's funny in that, we do that all the time!"

2) Having a brother who was trying to sell his home and the real estate lady was freaking over the dead animal heads on the wall (apparently NOT a selling point in civilized society).

3) Truely believing that jeans are the greatest fashion statement since time began.

4) Actually phoning other redneck women to spread the word a new Target store is opening!!!!!!!

5) Having a father and brothers who can tell you the exact weight and point count of their best buck...but couldn't tell you their kid's birth weights (other than they "were a keeper".

6) Planning pregnancies around hubby's favorite sports play-offs (I won cuz I delivered my last bang on between the Detroit Red Wings last Stanley cup games....neener neener).

7) Seeing a road killed deer and instead of going "ICK", thinking....@@@@@@ waste of good venison!

8) Can't quote poetry....can quote lines from country tunes. Current favourite is "if you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plan"

9) Having a sick gut reaction to people who paint their trucks *gag* PINK (there should be a law!!!!)

10) Beautiful family memories like that week at deer camp, the time granny farted at the Xmas table, that deal at the yard sale.....oh the memories.....


Okay laff all you want but that's my family and that's all sadly true....oh well.....REDNECK PROUD!

I couldn't have said it any better. As for you Genevive, Sounds like you are on your way. Just one thing, when you ride a horse, do you ride english styoe or western pleasure? That could be the clincher!

Either living in the country or city does not really matter, it is more of an attitude anyway. The great thing about growing up "Neck" is it is quite easy to act like a "dumb hick". And when you are dealing with "Cultured" city folk in my job, you can get lots of people that are "Cultured" to accidently spill their guts with the "Dumb Hick" routine. lol It works great. They think "Hay this is a dumb hick, he is too dumb to catch us..he he he" WOOPS, Happens all the time. Got to love it!

As far as the country music thing, I fear I will never go back. Just love my ROCK! Sometimes I get a hankerin for it and will flip on over to a country station for a few moments, then back to the jams. And of course, in the gym, you can't listen to country music. It is just not good motovational music. I will say, my hat is off to Toby Kieth. I do like his patriotic songs like "American Soldier" and "Curticy fo the Red White and Blue" both awsome songs. And if you need a song to make you cry and really think about life, it would be Randy Travis "Three Wooden Crosses".

Of course after that gets out of my system,,,,,,,,Pantera callith,,,, Mosh, Mosh, Mosh...... RAAAAAAAAAA! lmao!
