I now understand the love of Retics and Burmese
So yesterday I went to South Beach Miami and I happened to run into 3 different people walking around with their snakes and charging people for pictures.
I've only seen pictures of Retics and Burmese's on here so seeing one in real life was very cool.
I had to get a picture of course and when the owner placed it around my neck I must say I respected the power but also glad I had the knowledge and rookie experience of handling a snake since I have a ball python.
After holding it, got home and picked up my little BP all I could do was laugh. Looks like a chump compared to larger snakes lmao

I never though I would want a snake that big, but man, that was a great experience.

Can't go on Burmese and Retic level with you. But just recently got a baby red tail boa that is the same size as my 3 month old enchi bp. Gotta love the big guys

I have all three Retics , Burm and Royal ( plus Boas and others lol ). Thing I noticed is they're all so different but Id never say one was better than any of the others like some do and just solely keep one species ...
After reading through your first post I was expecting to see a massive 13 foot wrapped around you :)
I have a Corn snake that size :)

They are awesome, I love my big 12ft girl, she's amazing.
that one is still pretty small but definitely different from a bp for sure

Psh, that snake is smaller than my dumeril's boa! :P
It's always awesome to hold a larger snake than you're used to, whatever the size is. It's a feeling that's hard to describe LOL. Female ball pythons sometimes grow to around that size of your snake in the pic though. So if you have a female BP, you'll be happy!

How is it handling 6+ feet snakes on the regular? I'm sure sometimes it can be a hassle at times lol I occasionally can't get my BP to go where I want her such as back in her tank. Where the head goes the body follows

I totally understand where you're coming from! I find it amazing to hold the big guys. I had the front end of a green anaconda around my shoulders while my bf, my sister, and her bf held the body and back end of the large snake! This was at a Sacramento Reptile show like two years back. It was such a great experience! I learned so much during the show. If I had the means and the space, I would definitely get a larger snake. But since I dont, I'll stick with my cornsnakes and bp. [emoji13]

It's definitely a workout lol my big girl is pretty active sometimes she decides she don't want to go back in her enclosure and it can be a hassle xD my 9ft albino male is pretty chill and likes to be on my shoulders, he's pretty good at going back to his enclosure though lol

Depends on the snake. All of my snakes are really easy to handle. They range from almost 5' to 7'. My 7' BCI, Rosey I just reach in, drag her out and sling over my shoulder. I would trust her with kids. I really don't think you could get her to bite you unless you really hurt her. My SD retic is only 9 months old but he's just over 5' and he handles fine. He does want to go go go all the time though but he is mellow. My BP girl is just about 5' and she is actually like my retic as once you get her out and she knows she's on me, she gets really active and inquisitive. Her and my retic are the two you got to watch when you let them out to roam as they head for the floor and off and running around they go. The boas tend to find stuff to climb that they are too big for and knock stuff over. Rosey my 7' girl managed to climb a torchier lamp and tip it over lol. Thankfully she wasn't hurt but she bent the lamp. The bulb didn't break though. I just heard the crash and came over to see her still wrapped around the lamp on the floor and she just looked up at me and flicked her tongue lol. She's like a giant kid, you gotta watch her or she knocks stuff off tables and dressers lol.

Why does that look like an obese albino BCI to me?
But yeah I love the big guys! Definitely fun animals to experience and own even if they are a workout some days:)

Am I crazy or are you holding a BCI in that pic? That's definitely not a retic or burmese...

It's not a big deal. Especially if you have owned and handled the snake from juvenile size. You sort of grow into the snakes size with them. Now if you are used to small and go instant huge, it will take some getting used to.

That's so true !!
I bought all mine as hatchlings or youngsters apart from my dream snake - the Snow Boa .. He came to me as an immensely powerful 6 footer ( nearer 7' now ) and he was so much bigger , heavier and STRONGER than any of my others .
After a settling in period , It took me a few weeks of hesitant handling before I grew accustomed to his ways . Now I just reach in and lift him out , it's a breeze .

I think what freaks people out the most is how strong they are. They are solid muscle. They can be intimidating. lol But with handling and trust building you can end up with a puppy dog tame snake. You just have to be careful when in feeding mode. That's goes for most snakes really.

Boa constrictor imperator. What you're holding in that pic is an albino red tail.

Yeah, I thought that looked like a albino BCI too but I didn't want to say anything haha. Still a decent size if you have a 1.5' BP lol. Wait until you hold a big one. My 7' BCI girl is 12.7lbs and about as thick as a pop can but she is sweety. I just drag her out and sling her on my shoulder and off we go. I had her since she was 18" though so I'm used to her plus boas tend to be more of a lounger. Wait until you hold a retic. They love to cruise lol. My superdwarf retic always wants to move when on me. He usually stands straight up to touch the ceiling or reaches out to grab stuff as I walk by lol.
And like others said, if you get them as babies, you really don't notice the size unless you look for it. My 7' girl is still just my little baby worm. Same with my sunglow BCI and BP girl and even Caesar the retic. I just see them as I remember them although Caesar is now a 5'+ spazz lol.
