Aluminum foil
Okay so im trying to increase my humidity and temps with the aluminum foil method but ive heard that stagnant air can cause and RI, has anyone had any issues like that? How much of the lid do i cover? Im using aspen bedding, do i spray the bedding or the inside of the tank? Thank you :)

cover the entire top, or as much as you can, and cut a long slit along the front or back.
spray the top of the hides and also spray the bedding. i don't know much about aspen, but i don't think it's the best for holding humidity. i could be wrong, though.

I dont know what u mean by cutting a slit on the front and back. What about the risk of having an RI? I would hate myself if one of the snakes get one

use a sharp object to cut into the tinfoil and make an opening going along either the front or back of the enclosure. this will allow airflow.

as long as the air has the ability to move it will be fine. i've used saran wrap on my 20gal with slits cut into it for over 2 years and have never had a problem.

This is done by 95% of snake owners that have Glass Aquariums so as far as the RI info not sure.. Im sure that has to do with someone trapping bacteria without air/vents. PVC enclosures manufactured for snakes only have a couple Vents on each side. Just like tttaylorrr explained is the correct way for a DIY. I have a CHE on a tank I use for quarantine so about 2/3rds is covered w/foil & the far end open for the CHE. Another tank I have (40 gal Long) is completely covered in Plexyglass with a vent on each end. 100% ok :gj:

I have never heard of a BP getting an RI from stagnant air. Chances are you will be opening the enclosure a couple times a week to feed, water, maintenance, take the snake out. It would have to be in the sealed enclosure for weeks for the air to get that stagnant.
Don't worry about sealing it up. The air will be exchanged regularly by you opening the enclosure.

Re: Aluminum foil
I had better results with a towel on top when I had a glass tank. Keep it damp and you should be alright. Never had an RI issue. Also, putting sphagnum moss in the tank and keeping that damp will help. Put some in the hides too.

Can i put the moss on top of the aspen? Like, lets say a corner of the tank? And just leave it there?

Yeah that's what I did. Had cypress mulch and then some miss on each side if the tank. Kept the towel and moss damp and had perfect sheds every time

Re: Aluminum foil
It depends on how warm it is in the tank. I misted my tank and moss once or twice daily and the towel once a day. So since you have no over head lighting, leave about a two inch gap open both ends of the screen. That will allow the air to circulate

As simple as that, a wet towel (i guess not dripping wet) plus some moss, i will keep this in mind, thank you

No problem. Honestly, there would be days where I wouldn't even keep the towel damp and humidity still stayed around 55%

I will be getting hygrometers to keep humidity on point. I will try both (tin foil and damp towel) because i have two snakes lol whatever works best stays for both, thanks again
