    Manasa progression progression
Hey all, i figured i'd make a progression instead of blowing up my husbandry thread. anywhoo, this here is Manasa.

    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach..._181809585.jpg

A Jan. '17 female normal. most of her progression, with my troubles and tribulations thus far, can be seen here: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-setup-correct

so the latest is, i went on a weekend vacation and she was already in blue with some flakes of skin peeling so i changed her water, gave the viv a misting and hit the road. upon my return i find her cruising the tank and under the hide is a balled up skin. i unrolled it (dang that stunk) and it was a nice clean shed

    so that is the latest

    thanks

Nice first shed!!! One of my corns just had her first shed with me. I still get the proud poppa feeling any time one of mine has a one-piece shed. You're off to a good start!!

Hard to tell as they are born all different sizes. My female was small when she was born, so she is 23" now and 4.5 months I think..

thanks, so based off of that i'd venture a guess at about 3-ish months?

A weight would help too but its all just a estimate. At 3 months mine was only 78 grams and 18". She was very slim.. She is 300 grams as of yesterday and had a mouse sense her Poo .. I
Id say you were closer to 4 mos but who knows. Just make a age from now on and go by it. I could be off too as its only the age I was told when i bought them.

last time i weighed her she was about 110g. but i think that was before a poo.

which brings me to something else.

the other day i decided to do some handling and just watch her do what she does. she was cruising around like usual exploring my arms and neck (really wild feeling the tongue tickling the back of the neck). she made her way back down to my hands, got real cozy on my hand and then got very very still . . . . which struck me as odd . . . and then it happened. she pissed on my leg!!!! lmfao it was terrible then i looked at her and saw her tail locked strange and she was flexing her muscles back there. uh oh . . . so got her to a paper towel let her do her business and put her away so i could do laundry . . . . sigh . . . . fatherhood lmao

lol Tough break! I haven't been pissed yet by anyone of my BPs but it's happened plenty of times in the past with other snakes.

So it's been a minute since my last post, Ms. Manasa is good and healthy, growing like a weed and only skipped one meal so far. She's up to 378g and eating fresh killed small rats.

Also I have a question, I have been running the T10 to dial in temps and humidity with the herpstat. And every time I open the glass there is a weird smell. . . It's nothing burning but. . . . Idk. . . strange.

Is this normal? Will it go away?

I vaguely recall a strange "odor" when I set up my AP cages and pro heat panels last summer. Let them run for a while and keep the enclosure well ventilated and it should go away quickly

hey all, so its been a bit since the last post, the noodle is doing great and is flirting with the 1k g. mark (currently 988g). now on to the REAL news. . . . . my snake is a male!!!! turns out the store i bought HIM at tried to probe to early and mis-sexed HIM as a female. so HE is no longer Manasa . . . . HE is now Fred . . . yes, yes i know, not nearly as exotic sounding as the Hindu goddess of snakes. but its a snake, it has no idea what i call it and fred works. so now fred the . . . oh yeah also learned he might be HET albino . . . which is cool since as you know i paid normal pricing. . . i learned this from the gal at the NEW store i frequent who has been breeding balls for 5 years now. she couldnt accept that it is a normal. . . . oh well guess thats what you get when you dont know the bloodline. whatever he may be, he is an awesome snake and has taught me a lot in these past 10 months and continues to keep me on my toes.

    that is all for now
