Insulation and privacy for free standing tub ;)
Most of my tubs are in a rack, so they are somewhat insulated as well as have great privacy for the snakes.

I have one free standing tub and decided to build a "surround" that will offer insulation as well as privacy. My "OCD" made me go a little overboard on the construction, but that thing is solid as a rock, yet light weight. Nothing wobbles or moves, it feels like "one piece construction" ;)

I cut the styrofoam panels and put Alu tape around all edges. Then I adhered the panels to each other with double sided duct tape. I taped more Alu tape over all the seams, inside and out (and all around). Finished off with covering the entire outside with Alu tape.

The Styro lid is removable and the cut-outs on the side are there so I can lower the latches to remove the lid from the tub. There are cut-outs for the heat tape cable as well as the thermostat probe. I'm going to solder a couple holes into the tub to install the probes for heat and humidity. I want the temp/humidity display on the outside. I also have a temp gun and periodically check the temps on the bottom and on top of the substrate.

Here is my little Sunday project

Nah, that wouldn't be right, because I've seen others make similar "boxes".

I just took mine a bit further ;)

    Oh, cool !!!
So are they on their way ???

I made a thread about whether Boaphile or AP would be better. The wait on the AP would kill me. Just kill me. LOL. I know good things are worth waiting for, but patience has never been a virtue of mine.

I would want a "taller" cage, around 17 to 18 inch, so its not "in stock".

Gonna head over to your thread.

yeah that would be like the T11 (18") or T12 is 24" H, which is what I ordered and they are like 13+ weeks even though the invoices say 10-12 weeks...and thats not including shipping. Some people are now 4 weeks past the 12 weeks now too...
I read your thread last week and the replies but I dont have any experiance with those enclosures. AP are the only ones I've ever seen so I just Stalked ya hahhhahha.
Im hoping for April 1st on mine.

    April 1st huh.

I'm so impatient its not even funny..lol.

16 weeks for some ? oy..

I don't need the cage just yet. I'm just pricing and putting feelers out. I definitely like the Rack I got from Boaphile, so I'm wondering about their cages. There are some options I like better at AP, some at Boaph. Price is "almost" the same at the size I am looking for.

Perhaps by the time I'm ready to order, AP will have caught up on orders or hired more help.

AP told me they like how they do the 10-12 weeks because it keeps it personal and not just over-production like a Factory keeping the quality & Customer Service and thats how they do so much repeat business..
I agree, Ali is the Best business owner I have ever spoken to in my life. She changed my order 3 times and was pleasant and kind the whole time. That alone will keep me as a customer ontop of the fact they use some of the Best PVC out there and its 1/2" vs alot of 1/4" i see from other manufacturers. AP lasts a lifetime. I hear of saging/warping with others in the center when you go 36" to 48" + Lengths.

nice work on the insulation, it has helped stabilize the climate in my tank set ups. I have a lot of tanks laying around from a fish breeding project so I have not ventured into the tub realm yet.
