. Thanks Cletus. They were laid December 30th but I have had the thermostat set to 88.5F. Maybe that's why the two are a bit early.

Thank you T! I am anxious to see them out of the egg too. Hoping to see a pastel pied or two. Lol.

Do you use the cypress to raise humidity ? Do you always use it ? It the one probe a humidity probe and do you like how it works?
I just got a digital thermometer that has a temp AND a humidity probe. The reviews were mixed, but I do think it works.
Do you always keep your probes inside of the egg box ? Do you have a lid on the egg box?

Sorry for the many questions, I'm trying to be well prepared ;) Any tips will help..

. Thanks Zina, it is exciting but worrisome at the same time. Lol. After you've hatched a few clutches you get better at allowing the process to run its course as you tweak the details.

. Hey, I love questions. Yes, I use the cypress mulch to help with the humidity but this is the first time trying it. I had 99% humidity percent without it but decided to try it out. I do use a lid and then cover that with "press and seal" from day 1. Two of the three probes are hygrometers/ thermometers in my tub bc they all have differing temps and humidity percentages so I get a range. The accurite was measuring a low humidity and the pawliss was reading 99%. So it's just really a insurance measure. I really believe in what Corey Delong and many other big breeders say about seeing the presence of condensation in the tub is your best indicator that your humidity percent is adequate regardless of what the measured humidity is reading. Yes, I always keep the probes in the egg box. Always keep a lid on the tub and covered with "press and seal".

. Thx rd! No idea yet of who's what bc their bodies are still in the egg. All I can see are cute little heads.

. Thanks Reinz. Yeah, this is really a nice start so far. I had some low temps in the early incubation bc I thought my thermostat was set at 87.5F but it was reading 81.5F when I checked days later. So, fingers crossed right now. Lol.

Thanks Misster. I have seen heads and bodies now. The first two are in the hatchling rack while the other three absorb the yolk and feel secure enough to emerge completely. I just wanted to take a picture of all of them together rather than individually now.

Big congrats on a beautiful clutch!

Maybe I'm just missing something, but how is this clutch dual sired? It's been a while since I've dabbled in genetics, but it looks like a single sire to me.

Either way, beautiful babies. Pieds have always been a favorite of mine.

Thanks K! Female regular pied was paired with a pastel pied and another regular pied during the breeding course. One of the hatchlings pictured is a pastel pied. Two others are not. Then the other two have pipped but have not emerged from the egg fully.

That doesn't make it dual-sired. It makes it "Who's Your Daddy?" on the non-Pastel Pieds. There is no way to tell from this pairing who the sire is on the non-Pastels. Odds and genetics easily explain how you have both Pastel and non-Pastel Pied hatchlings in this clutch even if you only paired with the Pastel Pied male.

My thoughts exactly! It is possible that it is dual sired, but because of the pairing, there is really no way to know for sure.

Still a great clutch with excellent results. :)
