Just bought Ball Python. Some Advice needed please.
    Hi everyone.
Today i bought a female normal. The reptile shop said they dont keep any records of date of birth which i found strange but they did have a full or part record (not sure) of feeding and shedding dates. I estimate she was born at the biggining of october but came here for a second opinion. All i can tell you is; she first ate on the 18th of october.
    She has eaten 6 times.
She has shed once according to the record sheet.
I weighed her today and she is 130.5 grams
Any guesses as i would like to know. Thanks

6 times seems very little for a baby in 4 months. Should be more like 16 times, 1 for each week. The weight is okay if the age is indeed correct. I would definitely get her on the appropriate size prey (I would say rat pups) weekly.

    CALM Pythons
Several Hatchlings from pet stores dont eat for a couple different reasons which may be why only 6 feedings are logged...
    1) They dont feed them every week (less feedings less overall cost)
    2) The snakes are stressed from the terrible environment and the lack of knowledge of pet store staff who don't understand how to start feeding frozen thawed...
I asked a local Pet Store here about a Banana & a Albino they have housed together and not 1 employee in the whole store knows a thing about reptiles or the snakes they have..poor snakes suffer.

Thanks guys. I checked for the obvious when i bought her, parasites, spine, kinks, head and mouth. She was active when he opened the lid and he said she was due a feed. I purchased 2 fuzzy haired mice but decided not to try and feed her untill 2moro night to give her time to settle in. Is this ok? Im not worried about her health at this point as she does really seem fine. I am more concerened about the feeding schedule as like you say 6 times seems too few. If she was 4 months old, does one shed seem true?

how long have you had her? most people give their new ones at least 5 days to a week to settle in. however she's probably very hungry, so maybe you can offer sooner.

    well CONGRATS!!! :D
but i would definitely wait at least a few days before offering: offering too soon can increase their stress and cause them to keep refusing.

Mice fuzzies are way too small for your snake.

Babies will generally eat after they first shed which is around a week after hatching. I am not super concerned about the number of feedings. First, this is the number of feedings that were actually tracked. Since it came from a pet store the number could be BS to the positive or the negative. What matters is does the animal appear healthy. Post a picture. We can tell you pretty quick if the animal appears as it should. I strongly adivise you to take a look in the care section on this board. By the questions you are asking there may be many things that you need to know. There are also tons of resources on the net that explain a ball python's life cycle and feeding habits. This is a super easy animal to take care of, but being informed keeps you out of trouble. Congradulations on your new animal. Beware, they are addictive. There are very few of us on this board that have just one.

Also, just for reference, my boy Tyson is roughly the same age as yours. he is eating a lg adult mouse every 5-7 days (closer to 5 most of the time) and weighed 167grams as of 2/9. I'm guessing the feeding/shedding info you got is BS. Seems like very few feedings. I would think a BP that ate that little would be scrawny, but who knows what the truth is...
Anyway, glad you found the site, upload some pics when you can
