Would this work?
I wanna make a bigger hide for my BP. I have a Sterilite container, but it's clear. Would it be ok to wrap black electrical tape around it, so it wouldn't be see through? I'm gonna place it on the hot side. I have a 75w nocturnal bulb. Don't know if the tape would begin to un-stick from the heat, or would the tape be toxic in anyway to the snake?

Tape inside the enclosure is never a good idea. It will eventually start to come off and become a major hazard to your snake.

First off ...... never EVER use any kind of tape in a snake container / vivarium / rub .
Tape is so very dangerous , the ends soon comes unstuck and the tape then sticks firmly to the snake scales causing untold damage !!

The combination of heat, humidity, and tape is just asking for trouble. There are a plethora of hide options much better suited.

I wouldn't that much tape is asking for trouble.. Get a Kitty Litter pan the size you want and cut a hole in that. Van Ness makes good ones that I've used for years and they are colored.

I cannot emphasize this enough...... Never ever, ever use tape inside a snake enclosure. There have been some very nasty accidents.

Yes, you guys just did answer that one fast, AND I SURE DO APPRECIATE IT! Ok, so I am not going that route! Lol. Thank you guys once again.

I couldn't get my fingers going fast enough to say NO TAPE!!! Thankfully the community of snake lovers here at BP.net was quick on the draw! hahaha!!
There are a million things you could use, and plenty you can find at a dollar store for super cheap, especially if appearance isn't your highest priority. I've also seen some videos of how to make hides really cheap. I haven't tried making them, but some of them seemed really easy and cheap, and ended up looking good and natural.

Tape has been used over the years and because so many accidents ensued we even had to make an official warning post about it that is stickied https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...ALL-caresheets!
Hide can be made of simple plastic bowls all the way to cat litter pan and those will be SAFE

Here's mine and for now they are perfect just put the hole to get in on the small side. They like to crawl under the divider and lay in the fully enclosed side :) took them both a minute to figure out it was there but as soon as they did that's all they wanna do is lay in that side. This picture though she is coiled in the big side and sticking her head out just enough to look out I think it's cute she does it all the time when I'm cleaning or changing water lol :))

Re: Would this work?
I was just going to post something related, if no one mind I use this thread?
Yesterday I installed a led strip in my BP viv. obviously it is sticky strip, very low profile cold light, and change one of the bulbs to just a ceramic heat emitter. So after all I've read not to use tape, I figured out all by myself it was a bad idea... lol
Maybe I could leave it on with silicon in the border so it won't come out? What do you thing guys/gals?
Here is a pic of how it looks like.

I've used similar LED strips but I stuck them in place using a hot-glue gun .... Maybe you could leave it in place but go all along with a glue-gun so there is no way the sticky strip could ever come unstuck ( by the snake rubbing on it ???
That's probably what you meant isn't it :)
Just a thought ??!!

Best thing bro is to order some cheap Black ones from Reptile Basics.. I paid $4.99 each for my Mediums. They are GREAT and easy to clean and heavy duty buy not heavy dangerous like things at Petsmart. Heres a link.
