First shed!!!
So excited my male shed for me for the first time!! I seen he was in blue a couple days ago so I bumped everything up. He also pooped the first time for me about an hour before barely any there though. But still I'm happy :)

Congrats on a great first shed! :)

Nice first shed!! I always get that proud poppa feeling when one of my snakes has a successful one-piece shed. There's something special about a first shed too. I have a corn girl in the blue right now, so her first shed with me will be coming in a few days. I was lucky enough to happen to see my Cali King and my BP first shed with me. Crazy lucky timing in both cases, and simply amazing to see happen right in front of me.

First shed!!!
I barely missed it bc I cleaned up his poo not even an hour before. So I checked on him and his underneath his head was coming off so I checked again an hour later and he was done lol

Uugggghhh!! You just missed it!! I caught the Django (the Cali King) about 25% into his shed and saw Tyson (BP) basically from the start. I was playing hockey on the playstation which is right near his enclosure. He was rubbing his face on a rock, so I just kept looking over and sure enough I basically saw it all. Soooooo cool to see.

Re: First shed!!!
lol I know I was really hoping to see but wasn't really expecting to he's still really shy and scared. I have to get him to calm down when holding so hopefully in another month or two I'll be able to look in without him getting paranoid

Sweet. It's always nice when you get a good shed. It's one of those things that lets you know you are doing things right and it makes you feel good. Congrats!

First shed!!!
Thank you all. I'm considering getting rid of this aspen though it's stink horrible even after one pees once. Thinking about coconut stuff but I'm open to suggestions. Currently in 10g glass tank but will be moving to a rack system in the near future.

A coconut based substrate would be a good choice. You can keep it moist with no molding and the odor control is amazing.

Re: First shed!!!
Ya I've used aspen for other reptiles and never any problem so I'll definitely pick some coconut up Tomm or reptichip if they don't have any at the local rural king..or would the clconut be classified as something else?

Re: First shed!!!
Ah that sucks it's currently unavailable and I don't have money on my debit card for another 3 weeks since I took my check off haha I'll kinda look around at rural king for something cheap or just keep using aspen and do bigger Dailey cleans than I already do until next payday. (That's what sucks about a salary job haha)

Started with the expanding coco husk - it's pretty good but I actually like the repti-bark better. It smells really good and doesn't get dusty like the coco-husk.
