Saying goodbye to a faithful canine companion
My 13 year old beagle/boxer mix Hailey is being euthanized here in my home today at 3 p.m. I am loving on her more then I have in my entire life. She slept with me last night and I had my arm around her. She has reached the end of a very good life and is suffering greatly and it is my duty to her to lay her to rest. I am both torn up and dying on the inside because I am losing my baby girl but at the same time I am setting her free. She is the best dog I have ever had the pleasure of owning, not a mean bone in her body, very kind and loving. She always tolerated my snakes my very well, heck she would lick them. I will never find another Hailey, but I do know that I love her as I have never loved another dog in my life. Good things have happened to me this month but I guess you have the take the bad with the good.
RIP my beautiful Hailey.

Imagine a 13 pound little Lassie chasing snakes... that makes me smile!:)
Awe that's so sad about the Sheltie ... We had a Tri-
colour Sheltie in between our two Irish Setters , on family trips out she used to naturally 'herd up' our two little kids so when one went away from the family exploring ( usually the youngest - our little boy) - she used to follow them very closely until he came back into the fold ...

So sorry you have to go thru this. I had to do that many years ago so I know how you feel.
Godspeed to Hailey!!!!
She will be out of pain now. You can take comfort in knowing that you gave her 13 wonderful years.
